The kooks' second album was always going to be extremely difficult. The task in hand was to prove the critics wrong, maybe do something a bit different so as not to be labelled 1-trick ponies, and most importantly to keep the massive fan base which they had built on the back of their debut 'inside in/inside out'. Whether they have achieved any of these is debatable.

The album starts out in promising fashion with the two guitars being used in `see the sun' infusing together to make a catchy, instantly lovable pop-rock track which forces you to come back for another listen. This trend continues with the catchy lead single `Always where I need to be' which has you singing "do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do, do-do' in the irritatingly catchy ... Read More:

The Kooks have prooven with Konk/Rak that they've developed greatly from their first album.

Every song is distinguishable and keeps the joyful feel whilst listening.

Watching The Ships Roll In is a truely beautiful song and in my opinion is worth the extra £3 for the double CD album alone.

All the songs give the feeling that they have all had an even ammount of time put in to them, I couldn't find a bad song!

Konk/Rak is definitely worth every penny!

Music : Naive CD1
I think that "Naive" is a very likeable song and it has powerful lyrics that show sadness. The instrumental is tuneful and easy listening, it makes the listener tap their foot or hum along. The sound quality was crisp and first rate production. I rate this item 5 stars because of the all round quality.
