As with all who have felt compelled to add their thoughts on this amazing double CD, I too find it timeless and one of those rare collections you will never get tired of. We often drive upto Wales (usually leave around 8pm and get to mid Ceredigian around midnight) and this collection, specially Part 1, is reserved for the last hour or so....nothing like rolling through the night to this sound :) Hope everyone gets to experience these sounds....thanks to the Bear for recommending it :)

It's a real grower, this album. When I first listened to it, I couldn't see what the fuss was about, really. It sounded just like another chill-out CD, albeit better than the others. But after repeated listens, I started to appreciate how accomplished it was. The mix is so seamless that you can't work out where one track stops and another begins. Basically, if this is a chill-out CD, then it pretty much redefines the whole genre. This is not about loosely stringing together some nice tunes; this is about sounds, tempo, and rhythm. Normally with a review, I'd point out the good tracks, but in this case it's pretty much irrelevant here. The tunes picked by K&D merely help them achieve the tempo and rhythm they want. A refreshingly thick slice of humming bass topped with more beats and breaks than you could ask for. Conversions is a great record that remains the unsung hero of mid-nineties electronic creativity. All tracks are coherent, original and beautifully melodic. Very boppy and up-tempo, and with one foot firmly planted in Drum & Bass, Conversions will always make heads turn and feet tap. K&D Live up to their reputation as seamless mixers, creators and producers on this release. Although Amazon have the original release date for this as 1999, it is in fact a much older record that precedes everything K&D have done bar G-stoned (I think!). This further underlines their reputations as cutting edge downbeat peddlers.

This is a brilliant compilation of all the best tunes from the legendary Kruder & Dorfmeister's record lable; G-Stone. This is a godsend to those who haven't heard and wish to get into the G-Stone artists, and a pure delight to those who have. The only problem is, if you're already a fan of G-Stone, you'll find that you've heard over half the tracks on there, and probably own them anyway. Nonetheless, the mixing provides something worth owning.

Leading djs :dj hell, peter kruder (of kruder + dorfmeister fame), micheal reinboth + theothonnessen pick some of their all time fave tracks which cover , techno/electro (silicon soul, the pop group etc ),jazz/house (alexander hope/blaze) ,classic b-boy hip-hop (masta ace), nu-soul (nathan davies etc) + quirky (hector rivera) plus include classic soundtrack themes by sakamoto/sylvian +brian eno. a quality compilation for the music lover + curious.

As a big fan of K&D (and Tosca and Peace Orchestra), it pains me to write anything less than a worshipful review of anything produced by these two massively talented downbeat masters. But this early compilation album shows its age now, and it just doesn't have anything like the same gilt-edged quality of their other work. It's a compilation of other people's stuff, with one track mixed by K&D. So, you might be thinking, it's going to be the same deal as their DJ Kicks album - which was just superb and still sounds fresh today. But this doesn't. It's just a nondescript sequence of, at best, average downbeat drum & bass tracks. At the risk of sounding like your dad, the tracks just all sound the same: the same flange effects, stuttering beats and elastic basslines, and none of ... Read More:
