If you've got to this page, then chances are you've heard of Les Miserables and if you're a wise person indeed then you will have gone to see it in London or on Broadway. This CD is the original cast recording and has excellent vocal work from household names Colm Wilkinson, Michael Ball and rather bizarrely Caroline Quentin of Men Behaving Badly fame. This CD however is no replacement for seeing the musical live - it misses out pieces of linking material. This means that if you are listening to this as a substitute for seeing the musical, you may become confused by the jumpy plot. I have to admit I wasn't expecting to enjoy Anything Goes when I went to see it in London a few months back. But not only did I enjoy it but it prompted a return visit the other day, which is when I got a copy of the CD. The tunes are catchy & the cast exceptionally good..not a weak link in the chain. This cast recording captures the spirit of the show. It's a recording which you could enjoy without having seen the show on stage. Well recommended.

I enjoyed the performance of Cabaret so much, that I had to buy the CD. I'd seen the show a number of times before in different productions and had never really enjoyed it that much.This production was able to move from hilarious to shocking and to explore all the issues raised by the script. Highlights are the energetic Don't Tell Mama, the sinister Tomorrow Belongs to Me, the hilarious Two Ladies and the evocative Finale which brings back memories of the final moments of the performance, an image of breathtaking theatrical clarity and vision.

This is a great recording as you get a real flavour of the 'actual' musical- with full versions and some dialogue. The extended "If I Loved You" is good as this is not included on most Carousel recordings. Katrina Murphy as "Carrie Pipperige" is particuarly good, and her version of "Mister Snow" is excellent, as is Joanna Riding's rendition of "What's the use of Wond'rin'." This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is not as well known as "The Sound of Music" but this is some of their best work- i love "When the children are asleep" especially. I would recommend this cd to anyone who is a fan of the musical, or just enjoys Rodgers and Hammerstein's work.

I bought this soundtrack just on impulse, and also to get the amount needed for free post and packing. And I have to say, I do not regret it. I have listened to this constantly ever since I got it. I had already got The Lion King cast recording, and it is one of my favourite Disney soundtracks ever. Beauty and the Beast is certainly another one at the top of the pile! It is a completely different style of music to Lion King, but just as good! I definitely recommend it!

There had been a number of recordings of the Boy Friend before but I Like this one the most as it is the original London cast with the lovely Anne Rogers plus bonus of selections from The Girl Friend, Hit the Deck, No No Nanette, a must for show tunes fans, and again very good quality sound. Thumps up !!!

Having seen the original show with Jonathan Pryce and Lea Salonga, I also saw it a year later when the understudy was playing Kim and was not disappointed. All those years ago I brought my 5 year old up with the soundtrack and always promised her that if it came back to the stage I would take her. Now she is 15 and I was able to keep my promise at the Milton Keynes venue of the current tour and she was absolutely blown away. Jonathan Pryce was fab as the engineer in the original show, and I'm glad I saw him in that part, but the current cast, although doing a variation of the original is certainly not a disappointment. My daughter Hannah is desperate to see it again, with her friends, and the only down side is it is realistically not close enough ... Read More:
