Music : My Heart [Us Import]
Lorrie Morgan has produced some quality albums in her time but this has to be one of her best efforts in many a year.

The heartwarming opener is just one of the many jewels on this album. For a classic ballad that drips with emotion you wont have to go much further than track two 'Where Does That Leave Me'

'Maybe Not Tonight' is also a wonderful effort with Sammmy Kershaw offering great support in the duet department.

Try this out.

I dont think you will be disappointed.

This album was recorded when Lorrie and Sammy were a happy couple. They had an acrimonious divorce a couple of years later so it seems unlikely that they ever collaborate musically again, although (to quote the title of a Ronnie Milsap song) stranger things have happened. The album contains six duets, three Lorrie solos and three Sammy solos.

The title track is one of the duets and is a cover of a song that was originally recorded by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams. It clearly reflects Lorrie and Sammy's relationship at the time, as do the other duet ballads, I can't think of anything but you, Be my reason and That's where I'll be.. He drinks tequila is an up-tempo, fun song to get those toes tapping. Even more fun is the closing ... Read More:

There have been several compilations of Lorrie's music featuring various hits, but none of them are definitive, though this is the best yet. Among the hits included here are We both walk, Half enough, Good as I was to you, I guess you had to be there, Train wreck of emotion, Standing tall and Something in red.

Apart from the hits, this collection contains five new recordings. These include a live cover of Angel (a Sarah McLachlan song) and an excellent cover of Another lonely night, one of Tammy Wynette's less heralded classic songs. There is nobody better suited to singing Tammy's classics, as Lorrie has been divorced almost as often as Tammy. The other three new tracks are To get to you, If I cry and Whoop-de-do.

Music : Shakin' Things Up
I fell in love with Lorrie's music from the time I heard her first RCA album and have remained a fan ever since. This album was released in 1997 at a time when country radio, not sharing my loyalty, had lost interest. Nevertheless, this is a lovely album, typical of Lorrie's music.

The title track describes how Lorrie likes to shake things up, push out the boundaries and live on the edge. Given the number of marriages she has had and her eclectic musical tastes, nobody could argue with that.

There are two real oldies here. I've enjoyed as much of this as I can stand was originally a country hit for Porter Wagoner. Will you still love me tomorrow was originally a huge international hit for the Shirelles. Lorrie's exquisite version ... Read More:

To me, this album has always lived in the shadows of the one before (Leave a light on) and the one after (Watch me), which are my two favorite albums of Lorrie's. Nevertheless, there are many excellent songs on this collection too - it's not far behind the other two in its overall quality.

The album starts with the wonderful ballad Autumn's not that cold, which was surely considered for a possible single release. It wasn't but the next four songs here (We both walk, Something in red, Except for Monday, A picture of me without you - a cover of a George Jones classic) were all major country hits. You've probably heard some of them if you're thinking of buying this album now. All four have appeared on various Lorrie Morgan compilations although ... Read More:

Music : War Paint
Although “War Paint” is not my favourite Lorrie Morgan album (that honour belongs to “Greater Need”), it is nevertheless a very enjoyable, and indeed at times awesome, collection of material.

The album begins well with “My Night to Howl”, a defiant track that Lorrie sings with characteristic style and whose backing features a guitarist using a wah pedal to good effect. Other impressive songs include the album’s title track (which is very atmospheric and compelling); “Heart Over Mind”, “Don’t Touch Me”, (a ballad expressing longing) and “Evening Up The Odds” which provides a superb finale.

However, my favourite track is “Exit 99”, an instantly ... Read More:
