I've liked Madonna on and off since she started in the 80's with 'Holiday'. I bought most of her early stuff when it was still sold on vinyl but for some strange reason stopped buying her music when it went on to CD format. Since then, some of her music grabbed me, some didn't, but I've always admired her ability to transform herself with the times. I think Madonna has the Marmite factor - you either love her or you hate her! Anyway,I happened to be listening to the radio on the way to work one morning and heard '4 minutes' being played. This album is not too bad, contains 17 great tracks. Allthough there is one let down, none of them are the proper single/album versions. They are all remix edits or extended versions for this compilation. All re-recored using Q sound, makes the tracks sound very different from the orginal, in some cases better (Live To Tell and Like A prayer). But just makes other tracks sound awful (Lucky Star, La Isla Bonita). Personally I think if Madonna used all the proper single versions this album would have done much better and also if it included hits such as True Blue, Dress you up, Who's that girl and Causing A Commotion. With rumours of Madge releasing a 25 year box set after she has finished releasing the singles from Hard ... Read More:

Confessions on a Dance floor is an astonishing album filled with disco themed tracks and overflowing with style. all tracks are just fabulous. my favourite albums in order are(split up to love([])enjoy({})and are okay)-[music,like a prayer,erotica,true blue,CONFESSIONS,hard candy,American Life],{ray of light,Madonna,bedtime stories,like a virgin},I'm breathless(buy for vogue),and who's that girl?(not a great album). the tracks are fantastic- HUNG UP-10+/10-a fantastic track and a classic Get Together-9/10-pulsating beat SORRY-10/10-another fantastic track FUTURE LOVERS-10/10-awesome track,quite something to behold. It really is a tragedy when something this absurd becomes a big hit. I'd heard so much about this song, so I dialled in on iTunes and offered my pence up for it. My God it's worse than that Leona song! Timbaland's producing, so of course it sounds the same as everything else he's had his fingers in, plus the requisite designated minute of irrelevant groanings and moanings before, during and after the track. (Why does he do that? Just because he produced something he has to take half the song for himself?) Justin Timberlake and Madonna are worse though. They never actually hit a note, and they barely sing (well Justin has one repeated line) It's just a power-group name-drop. Bedtime Stories was a mellow album by Maddie and Ray of Light just kicks it up a few notches by creating a different feel of tune and a very creative formation of songs. i personally feel that this is a very good album and love the majority of the songs on offer here,but there are other albums that beat it(see Music,Like a prayer,Erotica,True Blue,Confessions,Hard Candy,and American Life)but that doesn't mean this album isn't good it just means there are albums i prefer to this...i see why loads find this album to be one of her best...it is one of her best,having become a mother and reached 40 she matured and delivered some more touching and deep songs (deeper and more hard hitting than bedtime stories)while not becoming traditional ballads. by collaborating with other producers,it gives Ray ...
