In my opinion most of the music in Madonna's long career has been extremely unremarkable. Poor productions of poor songs. Until suddenly this weird high point with two fabulous songs: 'erotica' and 'justify my love', and their hot, glamorous, cheeky accompanying videos and maxi-singles. The songs are dark, sleek, sensual, electric, human; they have desire, confidence, heat, need, funk. Here are all versions of erotica, and all of similar lengths. There is no stand-out mix:the interest is in the variety. The whole maxi-single stands just under 40 mins, and is far better value than the LP of the same name, where 'erotica' was far and away the stand-out track. 3 stars for original mix only! The remixes on this single are so disappointing. Really - did she not listen to them? In fact, they are the worst remixes I have ever heard. Madonna mixes can be hit and miss, but at their best give new definitions to her singles. For example the extended version of 'Hung Up' was superb, Pet Shop Boys mix of 'Sorry' and the Groove Armada and Deep Dish remixes of 'Music'were all a fresh,exciting take on great dance tunes. But here they have taken a geat ambient textured dance song and stripped it down to random, mostly highly irritating, bleeps! Let's hope more is made of 'Jump' - the final and nearly the best single on the album!

WARNING - This should ONLY be bought by serious (and desperate) Madonna collectors. This is NOT a Madonna album. This is appalling. As a Madonna fan and collector of her music, it is unfortunate that we are likely to buy this trash! This is basically revamped recordings that Madonna did in the very early '80s. BUT, she was the backing vocalist. So, what to do...? 'Otto' has cashed in, removed his god-awful voice from most of the tracks and used Madonnas' as the main vocal! Clever man, and these tracks have been repackaged in many forms overs the last few years, so they must be selling!
