Apart from "Frontin'", Pharrell's solo output has been confusingly bad, and he has far more success with his funk/rock group NER*D. The band's latest offering 'Seeing Sounds' successfully combines the mellow chords of 'In Search Of' and the prominent guitar of 'Fly Or Die' in a musically diverse album. Drum n Bass influences "Everybody Nose", "Anti Matter" and "Spaz", but the latter two tracks sound somewhat cluttered with ideas. The funk and flow of "Yeah You" is better, while the Beatle-esque "Sooner or Later" is a brilliant number before it breaks into a 2 minute guitar solo. This review is for the original electronic release, not the rock version. I remember when this album came out back in 2001, I wasn't feeling The Neptunes at the time. I was mostly into underground hip-hop so listening to this type of stuff was considered kinda poppish. But as the years passed by, my listening taste has grown and I decided to give The Neptunes a true listen because the music nowadays have no creativity whatsoever. So stuff that I didn't like back then has now become gold. This is the masterpiece I missed out on. The renowned producer Pharrell Williams brings his talents forward once again to the follow up album to the band's first album `In search of...' which was ok but this is by far a better buy if you're looking for exciting rock/rap music. The most influential tracks are `She wants to move' `the way she dances' and `jump' which all provide an upbeat tone and justify the rocking genre perfectly. Some tracks to be skipped are `Backseat love' and `Breakout' which sound awful with a backing track that's sounds uncomfortable and unjustified. With classic rapping by Pharrell and the other members playing instruments it is an acceptable album, perhaps not worth buying but listening to if you like this type of music.

Well I bought this album about a year ago. I was in the Trafford Centre in topshop with my girlfriend and this amazing song was on the screen. I waited till it finished to see who it was by. NER*D - Provider. I then went next door and bought it. The next day I skipped uni and I must have listened to the album non-stop for about 5 hours. I couldn't believe how good it was. I am in no way into rap or urban music, but this album is something a whole lot different. I'm into The Strokes and Oasis type stuff, but I think anyone could enjoy this album. "Lapdance" is addictive from the first beat. You cannot resist your temptation to start bobbing your head. "Things are getting better" is probably the second best song on there.
