As a purchase this was a bit of a gamble. I bought it on the strength of a chance hearing of `Summer Wine' on the radio. I was familiar with some of Nancy's hit records but this duet with Lee Hazelwood made me sit up and take notice. It was a gamble that paid off. Forget Elton and Kiki, these must be some of the best duets ever recorded.

The conventional wisdom is that Nancy couldn't sing and only got a chance because of her Father. That may be partly true but is a little unfair because Nancy has quite an expressive voice and provided it isn't pushed too hard like it is on `Fridays Child' then it's well worth listening to.

All the familiar hits are here so if you already like them you'll like the rest of the album. ... Read More:

Before initially hearing this album playing 'in store' during a visit to Chichester, I had never really taken a lot of notice of Nancy Sinatra. However, browsing around, I got to hear most of this set that day and ended up so impressed that I bought a copy. The vast majority of the songs (not so keen on the odd indie like 'Momma's Boy' or the strange duet 'Ain't No Easy Way') suit Nancy's smokey, sexy voice to a tee and she copes with the material really well. Her version of our Mozza's 'Let Me Kiss You' is great but it's Jarvis Cocker that provides her with her best song here in the shape of the lyrically excellent 'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time'. This said, it's a close run thing as 'Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot Of Sad' is an excellent bluesy and ... Read More:

I have a special fondness for "Boots," Nancy Sinatra's debut album, but "Nancy in London" is probably her best album, although none of the songs especially prove the title in any significant way. This remastered version makes this point obvious by tacking on four additional tracks including her title songs for the films "You Only Live Twice" and "Tony Rome" along with "Life's a Trippy Thing" the "other" song with Daddy Dearest (and "100 Years" is probably the best of that bunch anyway). Nancy Sinatra always tried to sing a lot of different songs, which explains why you get from "On Broadway," and "I Can't Grow Peaches on a Cherry Tree" on the same side of the album. "Summer Wine" is the second best of her duets with Lee Hazzlewood (after "Some Velvet Morning") and ... Read More:

I've got this as the old LP and it's one of my all time favourites. I'd love a CD copy but looks like I'll have to have it transferred from vinyl.

Yes, the album cover screams SEX KITTEN at you, even without the trademark white go-go boots. The evocative pose is rather ironic since on "How Does That Grab You?" Nancy Sinatra shifts away from covering rock songs as she did on her first album "Boots" and explores more traditional pop genres. I mean, listen to the first two tracks, "Not the Lovin' Kind" and "Shadow of Your Smile," and you would never think to connect the dots between these songs and "These Boots Are Made for Walking." This is the most diverse Nancy Sinatra album, which is an understatement for an album that can offer up "Let It Be Me" and "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)"; but remember, originally they would have been on different sides of the record. However, there are several excellent examples ... Read More:

Music : The Hit Years
I know this from my parents collection. With Robbie & Nicole's hit it must be revisited
(hence a reminder to order the CD!)
It is undoubtably - Cool, Swing, Melodic and Sexy (Lee Hazelhurst has a voice!!). The 'romance' of an era now long gone.
Imagine a yacht, champagne, the blue-green Adriatic/Med (before package holidays), slim fitting pencil skirts and tailored jackets, eyeliner, big swimming costumes and even bigger false eyelashes, costumes and hips (!!), pale lipstick, huge sunglasses and people nodding their heads whilst 'swimming' backstroke round the world/town/village/school/(more probably) front room. If you like Frank, Dean and 'all that swing' then you should hear Nancy.
