Wow! I cannot believe it - a The Scene Is Now album release! Living in the UK, I never thought I would see the day of another release from this legendary New York band - yet alone a domestic release. For me The Scene Is Now are a mysterious outfit. Their past outputs have been very erratic, and have been often compared to the likes of Pere Ubu or Half Japanese. Despite the lengthy gaps between each release, it is safe to say that " Songbirds Lie " is another outstanding & welcome contribution. The great ingredients have not changed: Chris Nelson's booming vocals, the engaging lyrics & the twisted Avant-Rock sounds. It seems the band is now much tighter & sharper with their playing.
