With the critics who are ready to pounce on Oasis' weaknesses at any opportunity, it was always clear that this album would be met with greater anticipation than just about any other record of the last ten years. Whilst playing the CD for the first time, many of the tracks seem rather pedestrian. But, listen to it for a third or fourth time and the snarl and bite of "Bag It Up" and the overwhelming energy of "The Turning" will hit you like a right hook from the fist of Mike Tyson. No wonder we had to wait for over three years for the band's seventh studio album. "Bag It Up" will blow you away in the same way that "Columbia" did, and the two opening tracks would not seem out of place on the beginning of "Definitely Maybe". ... Read More:

I've been an Oasis fan since I was 11 - I'm now 24 - and agree with the previous reviewer re: people's expectations. Oasis are never going to suddenly completely change their style to try and please fickle magazine critics. They know what their fans like and they know what works for them. That's not to say Dig Out Your Soul is identical to previous albums, it does have plenty of new ideas and sounds - try listening for all the different sound effects they use in the songs. They're older, wiser and it shows in the lyrics. Liam in particular is really developing as a songwriter. Simply, if you don't have this album you need to book an appointment at the Priory. Listen from start to finish and escape into the sounds of one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever.

One great track (Live forever) and a lot of average material. Although they would do better with Morning Glory they were never as good as the totally overlooked Diesel Park West (Check out the truly seminal "Shakespeare, Alabama").

ANOTHER BORING SINGLE FROM THE LIVERPUDLIANS MOST BORING OF OLD FOGEYS. I THOUGHT THE LAST GIRLS ALOUD SINGLE REALLY ROCKED, BECAUSE THATS THE EFFECT ON MY BED WITH MY BOYFRIEND, WHO HAS SHORTER HAIR THAN LIAM BECAUSE HE IS A REGGAE REVIVALIST CALLED A SKINHEAD.

Pure pop perfection from the best thing to come out of Manchester since Georgie Best. Oasis are the greatest rock band ever - a combination of The Stone Roses and The Buzz Kids. Every song is a classic and equal to If Looks Could Kill, Ziggy Stardust, Suburban Rebels, Nothing Compares 2 U, Love Will Tear Us Apart... Oasis are THe Beatles and much much more!!!

Heathen Chemistry is probably Oasis' worst album. But that doesn't mean it's bad. Many tracks are very average by Oasis standard, such as All In The Mind, Force of Nature, Better Man and Hung In A Bad Place. However, saying that, personally it contains some of Oasis best tracks. The Hindu Times is a fantastic rocker that would perfectly fit on to Definitely Maybe. Great guitar rifts and a great chorus, it is real ballsy stuff. Other highlights include Liam Gallagher's Songbird, which surprised many by being an incredibly sweet soft nice little tune - something many would not associate with rock's and hardest frontman. He also contributes with the heavily influenced Lennon song Born on A Differen Cloud - a song that shows a far cry from the average Little James he ... Read More:

The Masterplan is a B-Sides compilation full of great songs.There is an argument,in fact, for saying this is one of the very best Oasis albums. Certainly one of the most consistent. I think it's fair to say that it's time for another one-containing D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman,Round Are Way,Carry Us All,Cigarettes In Hell,Let's All Make Believe,etc...

Constructive criticism is one thing, but some of the scathing reviews I have read on here are nothing short of pathetic. Quite what the hell people expect from Oasis in this day and age is beyond me. After years of relative underachievement, 'DBTT' should be celebrated not berated. Between the release of 'Supersonic' in 1994 and the enormity of Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were untouchable. Two classic albums, nine fantastic singles (with phenomenal b-sides often topping them), a clutch of era-defining gigs... they weren't a band, they were living legends, and like many teenagers back then, Oasis meant the world to me. But 'Be Here Now', for all its inspired moments (DYKWIM?, Fade In/Out, Don't Go Away) arguably pushed the formula too far, with a bored/arrogant ... Read More:

The highlights of this album are great. However,I Can See A Liar, Little James And Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is are far from great.Had they been replaced with some of the B-Sides of the era (One Way Road,Let's All Make Believe,etc) it could have been a great album.
