There are a lot of reviews on this album, time and time again Nevermind seems to stretch its fuzzy head and look over, all I can say is ,to me Nevermind has some good tracks and Ten has some brilliant. its impossible to even compare them with each other, a bit like saying Grand Funk Railroad ( early years ) were like the Mahavishnu orchestra. total difference Pearl Jam are a clever group of musicians who write play and express themselves perfectly, the Nevermind crew had a few catchy riffs.

I liked the vast majority of this albums songs. All Pearl Jams hits are featured. A few reason why I have not given a 5/5 star review are: The remastered songs (2 on each album). Theyre just not as good as the originals. Also the album structure I feel is not right. Instead of charting PJ's career chronologically (Grunge-Post Grunge etc), songs are placed in what appears to be random order, although the first disk is a lot heavier. Personally I would have done it chronologically, but you cant please everyone! The album cover is a little naff, the sleeves make it difficult to get CD's out of and often the CD's will fall out if your carrying the album about, what was wrong with a hard case?!

Still a great album, although if you have the ... Read More:

When I first heard Vs I thought, well it's alright, not as good as Ten though. Indeed it probably is not as good as its predecessor, Ten will perhaps forever remain as the Pearl Jam's greatest album. However, after a few listens my feelings toward this album went from `alright' to `amazing'. This album is a lot louder and a lot angrier then Ten but not as dark. Songs like Go, Animal, Rearvewmirror and Leash probably set the tone for the album as loud, solid anthems; but it is often in the quieter tracks, the Daughters, the indifferences where the album really shines. Both those 2 songs are one of PJ's best. Eddie was probably at his lyrical best on this album in the songs already mentioned and in his awesome story telling in Dissident and Elderly Lady ... Pearl Jam seems to get a lot of stick from reviewers here for this record.

I actually quite like it. It might not be their best album, but it ís a good one.
Ok, there are a few crap songs on it, like "unemployable"(the opening riff is directly lifted from "driver's seat" by REO speedwagon - no attempt to hide this misdemeanor!) and "army reserve"(Eddie's voice strains beyond artistic expression to become merely unpleasant, ugly, and possibly damaging to the ears). And, yes, there are a few forgettable songs on it as well:"Big Wave" and "Gone"( and "Wasted Reprise" - but this is forgivable: it is a gimmick).
But, hey, don't most albums contain a few duds?

But there are also some good solid, robust songs on it."Life Wasted" and ... Read More:

I first heard No Code in the summer of 1996. Had a bad day at work and then first track Sometimes hit me. No it knocked me stone out. Following up from Vitalogy which was beautiful yet flawed Pearl Jam created there best record yet. And that includes what I believe to be there crowd pleasing latest self titled record in 2006. If you want to listen to what Pearl Jam means, there souls then this is the record. Don't get me wrong Ten and VS are absolute classics, but I think No Code is pretty much timeless. Every track here rocks. There are heavy moments here, feedback but it all means something. Red Mosquito is just genius. i douby there will be a finer rock record for some time to come.

This album just failed to excite me. I cannot find a stand out track. It's not necessarily terrible. It's just i find my self with no reason to listen to this album again

Often hailed as the worst Pearl Jam album ever Riot Act is actually pretty good. No seriously, I don't get how it picked up its' rep. Save You is an immediate Pearl Jam classic, it's fiery like beast from Ten or Vs...and it's not the only highlight. The slow numbers All or None, Thumbing My Way and (the rather brilliant I am Mine) add a very melodic feel to the album. The album is also fairly unique in the Pearl Jam discography. Tracks like Cropduster, Love Boat Captain and You Are (penned by Matt Cameron - perhaps the new drummer helping the band take new direction) really make this album feel different (perhaps a little odd to some hence the albums' poor reputation). However make no mistake, this may not be the finest work from Pearl Jam but it's good quality unapologetic rock ... Read More:

There are many theories about Vitalogy and its musical content. One such theory is that PJ were sticking up their proverbial two fingers to the 'corporate machine' and stepping off the commercial tread mill that came with 'Ten' and 'Vs'. Brilliant free thinking musicians will always explore new ideas, they have to, otherwise their heads burst.
Vitology contains the usual suspects that we all like to sing along to, when we get to see the best band in the world live, but it also contains lots of other good stuff as well.

'Bugs', a dig at the men in gray suits, they're going to get you in the end , it's inevitable!!.

'Aye Davanita'. Pearl Jam doing 1970's Krautrock... Thank you, can we have some more please and what about the excellent 'Stupid Mop'. It's ... Read More:

Upon first listen, Binaural became my least favourite PJ record. With the exception of Breakerfall, I felt this album offered nothing. Sometime later I did revisit the album and to my surprise found tracks like Nothing as it Seemed and Sleight of Hand, both brilliant. I don't know how I missed these the first time but somehow I did. As I listened to it more I found more tracks I liked like Parting Ways, Of the Girl and Insignificance. The album does seem to be blending a bit better too, asking to be heard in order in it's entirety as an album is meant to. The McCreedy influence is felt strongly throughout the record, which is fine as he does some of his best work on this record. Although the album is improving as I listen to it I am not yet at the point where I can call it a PJ great. It may ... Read More:

10.Ten by: Pearl Jam

Music : Ten
In 1991 the greatest ever grunge album and indeed one of the greatest albums of all time was released; but not many people realised. One year later the album finally made it's mark climbing it's way to the high end of the billboard charts and staying their; for 2 years (eventually outselling Nirvana's Nevermind). So, why was it able to do this? Well, simply because its an amazing album. No fillers, just 11 great tracks. Opening with the harder material of Once, Alive and Even Flow and finishing on the softer Release the album is arranged beautifully (my favourite bit being when Why Go follows onto Black). Often dubbed as a dark album Ten is a rather moving album with each song bearing enormous weight. Execution of the songs may have troubled most people but Vedder's amazing and varied voice tackles ... Read More:
