This is most definately an album that deserves at least 3 listenings to from everyone who says they like listening to music because it is very very very good.

The opening title track 'Bombtrack' is a perfect track to listen to to understand this album because it is almost like a round up of everything to come in the rest of the album. Driving guitar riffs and licks (yes licks) from Morello and angsty hip lyrics from Zach. In fact the only thing it really doesn't convey about the album is quite the intricate brilliance of Morello's soloing ability and guitar playing. What made Rage popular back then still holds so much appeal today to real music fans because they are a truly unique experiance and their debut album can easily be ... Read More:

Those of you who still pay for your music, take heed: this may be the greatest bargain of your life. Rage Against The Machine is that rare thing, a perfect album, and features the right mixture of heaviness, mood, and sheer fury. Evil Empire is less immediately obvious, but with a little commitment you'll be greatly rewarded. The Battle Of Los Angeles is a totally accessible romp, with Rage at their most fun, with a few tracks of sonic exploration thrown in for good measure. At this price, you can't afford not to have these metal classics in your collection (unless of course, you literally can't afford to). 33 of the best songs you'll ever hear.

Now while many say that Rages best record was the unstoppably furious debut, this is their true masterpiece. Its the sound of a more intelligent and focused band embracing raw experimental sounds. Now while the album is known for its stomping hits (Testify, Guerilla Radio and Sleep now in the fire) its actually on many of the hidden gems on this album that rage hits on to something. For example the exellent album tracks Born of a Broken Man, where rage fuse the time signatures of Led Zeppelin and the *Loud-Quiet* dynamics of many grunge and prog bands, coupled with Zachs poetry and Tom Morellos achingly sad riff produce one of the bands greatest songs. Theres also more quality stomping on Hip-Hoppers Calm Like a Bomb with more Space Ship noises from Tom ... Read More:

Rage have had a lot of influence (musically) on my life. I was introduced to them via MTV of all places where I witnessed People of the Sun maybe 10 years ago. What a song! It was like nothing I'd heard before, or since for that matter. It smashed, devoured and danced over the graves of everything I'd heard previously. So much energy, intensity and anger, so much groove. I was undoubtedly and unquestionably hooked and Rage became my favourite band up until I discovered Kyuss a few years later when the features of my musical landscape shifted once again.

There was something untimely special about Rage & their intense political leanings; even if you didn't exactly agree with De La Rocha's extreme left wing, anti capitalist political views ... Read More:

With the exception of the footage of the Democratic Convention protest, this DVD tends to focus less on political extras and more on the music. I suppose this would make sense, with the band broken up it would be difficult to arrange documentaries and interviews of the type found in Battle of Mexico City.

A memo should go out to all bands and music DVD producers that says at minimum: "1) Music DVD's should be produced to the highest standards. 2) The musical performances within should represent the talent that made the studio recorded CDs sell. 3) Theatrics are very cool too, as long as you can pull them off without deterioration in the quality of the music."

Let's break it down then for Rage's Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium:

This album is really bad. I've tried to like it. I've had it for years and every so often I go back and listen to it. Even the Rolling Stones cover is awful. Maggie's Farm is probably the only song on here that I like, and by like I mean it'd get 3 stars. But the rest of the album is just unimaginitive and technically mediocre. I woulnd't give it a 1 star, that'd be unfair. I do like quite a lot of the RATM music that I hear, but this album was clearly in the sale section all those years ago for a very good reason. They must have run out of good ideas earlier on in their career, which is a shame. If I wanted to listen to something similar I'd just go with Faith No More and never look back.

bought this album from ebay about a year ago, been listening to it since, I'm still blown away by it sometimes

amazing lp, i prefer this album to Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, its just sounds more raw, which is what i like

all in all, 4 out of 5, look at for bombtrack and without a face which are really good

oh and like the previous reviewer noticed the lyrics in the booklet are written by someone with a hearing problem!!!

(befor i start im dyslexic so sorry 4 any spelling mistakes) These two albums are tootaly differnt from the first 2 rage albums. both sound differnt from the other two & diifernt from each other. the battle of los angeles albun still concentrats on giving the goverment a kick up the ass with a morn modern sound & catchy riffs, i have a few favorate tracks on this album such as calm like a bomb, ashes in the fall & war within a breath. having a break from the polotics rage went on to making the renegades album just before spliting up. Renegades hand is completly differnt made up of nothing but cover songs. But dont let that put you off. the album is very vaired, going from old skool hip hop, to almost classic rock& funk. the best track on renegades in my opinion as a huge rage ... Read More:

This is an outstanding example of the power of RATM in a live setting. The playing is tight and the audience are obviously loving every minute. You get a good cross section of songs from their albums and all played with vigour and passion. 'Killing in the name' is especially good live. Highly recommended, you shouldn't be disappointed.
