Sorry, but this album is an absolute disgrace to the RHCP name. Anyone who tells you that this is their best album is obviously not a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the firebreathing funk punk band who wrote songs like "Give It Away", "Subway To Venus", "Me And My Friends" or even "Sikamikaniko", and put a real rocket up the arse of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire" and Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground".

They're probably fans of Coldplay. In the sense of they own the lastest album.

This is RHCP without fire or any of the grit and power they exhibited before, and what made "BloodSugarSexMagick" so vital.

As far as I'm now concerned, RHCP finished in the early 90's.

Sad.

As this is a greatest hits album I knew what I was getting before I bought it so obviously there was no disappointment there. The songs that are on it are great, some of my favourites.
But personally there are so many more songs that I would have liked to be on there. I don't know if the answer is a double album or replacing some of the songs on this album.
It's still a good album though.

Although I do still enjoy the title track and think the singles are not bad the album suffers from feeling a bit too samey. Even the forays into other styles "Cabron" with a Spanish style and "On Mercury" slightly more reggae come off feeling a lot like the rest of the songs. On Californication (an album that definitely could hold up to the best Chili's records) Anthony Keidis decided he would sing more than he had on any album before and on these songs he seemed to work much harder on the lyrics. The album mixed this new style with the older Chili's sound on certain songs "Around the world", "Purple Stain" and on some songs developed something new "Other Side" and "Californication". Almost all but gone are the funkier tones with by the way and the lyrics ... Read More:

where to start. this would have been the bollocks if it wasnt for all the truly tedious filler tracks. the band have made the mistake of believing there own hype and thinking they could pull off a double album of prize winning gems, in fact what they have is varying versions of about 4 different songs on an album so dull it makes coldplay look like pioneers of breakthrough music. if it was a colour it would be beige. to blood sugars rainbow. elevator music for saab owners

One Hot Minute is the first and only Red Hot Chili Peppers record that featured ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro. Coincidentally it also found the band on a darker, richer vein of form than they had been on their previous albums (and indeed the records that followed).

Although there is no denying that 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' will remain the highlight of their career, 'One Hot Minute' is its equal. But, it will forever be discarded by 'fans' of the band who dislike its 'experimental' sound.

For those fans who discovered the 'Chili Peppers following the success of Californication and By The Way, One Hot Minute is bound to disappoint. It's dark and edgy and although it plays unlike anything the band produced before, or after, Navarro's ... Read More:

The album that introduced me to four guys who would soundtrack most of my adult life... together with Faith No More they've had a lasting impression on my musical tastes ever since ever. Although Blood Sugar... will always be the standout for it's Frusciante licks and mellower basslines and more experimental edge, this album rocks on a level they haven't gone back to since. And because of this I think this remains their most 'fun' album, filled with frat-school rocking and some monster riffing. 'Nobody weird like me' was played live when i saw them last year, and it remains the highlight of all their gigs I've seen (bar 'scar tissue').

I'm a big Chili fan, but this CD remains probably their worst ever. You can't deny the funk, the energy, and Flea's uncut bass, but all of this is of little consequence when the whole CD sounds as if it's been recorded through a trash can. The recording is really, really terrible.

Some of the songs don't help either. 'Baby Appeal', 'You Always Sing The Same', and 'Mommy Where's Daddy' are all very very bad. In fact, if for some reason the Chilis gave up after this record, then no-one, absolutely no-one would've heard it. Much of this can be put down to inexperience, and we're all happy they survived through it.

It's not all bad. Flea's bass at least, gets the spotlight it deserves. 'Out in L.A.' is decent, as is 'Get Up And Jump'. However, this CD is for completists ... Read More:

This is unquestionably the funkiest of the Chili Peppers records as every track follows the funk scale. The front cover gives you an idea that the record is strange and deluded and it hits it spot on.The album uses a wider range of instruments than most chili peppers albums which adds various effects to the record and adds a nice touch.Jungleman is not a bad start and then Hollywood sparks up hope.American Ghost Dance and If you want Me to stay are another good two records and then it goes mental.
For those of you who can decipher the words in Nevermind,Sex Rap or Blackeyed Blonde have a very special talent. They all sound like pointless rambles.Considering the music you can hear isnt too bad and that Yertle the Turtle and Freaky Styley arent bad it isnt an overly terrible album like the ...
