With its lurid fluorescent sleeve N.M.T.B. is one of rock `n' roll's greatest debut albums. Johnny Rotten's lyrics and sneering vocals fizz with youthful angst (`Liar', `Problems' and `No Feelings) and sizzle with rebellious messages (`God Save The Queen', `Anarchy In The UK' and `EMI'). On the mordant `Bodies', the terrace-chant taunt of `Seventeen' and the exhilarating `Holidays In The Sun' the Pistols make obvious their love of the simple, primal, effective three-chord rock which Chuck Berry, The Stooges and the New York Dolls produced. These songs are all tightly structured and well-considered; they never venture far beyond 180 seconds and are sharp and snappy in sentiment and expression.

If you're after THE album to own as a Classic either of The Pistol's themselves, or Punk music as an era in our rock history, then look no further than this. Down here in what many would regard as 'sleepy old Dorset,' we were as on the ball in 1977 as the rest of the UK with this album. Word went around about the bootleg record stall at Wimborne Market having copies of 'Spunk,' so nipping out from work 5 minutes early one lunch hour on market day to get one was the order of the day. The sleeve notes in the booklet with this 'official' CD release say it was going for a fiver, but the stall-holder at the market sold his for a tenner, and with the buzz going around about it, it was the 'must-have' LP of the day and if he'd asked fifteen ... I bought the original 'Never Mind The Bo**ocks'when I was sixteen (1978). I played it until i literally wore it out, I still have it somewhere in the house. So, I decided to replace the original 'Never Mind the' with a new CD and bought 'Kiss this' at the same time. Their sound and lyrics are as good today as they were when i first rushed home with my original album. A definitive and timeless album.

I would seriously reccommend the 12-track highlights album as opposed to the 24-track sprawling mess. Firstly when dealing with erratic material like this, the sequencing makes or breaks the album. The highlights album begins with Malcolm McLaren's voiceover and then crashes into Rock n Roll Swindle - a good start. It includes all the best of the rock n roll songs like Something Else and Lonely Boy but none of the dross like Johnny Be Good and Road Runner where Johnny Rotten struggles to remember any of the words and consequently swears a lot! The Ten Pole Tudor songs are completely insane but seem to fit in better on the 12-track album than on the longer version. Good buy for enthusiast/collector as it contains the spedding demos and mike thorne demos in uncut glory (for a change). A Thorne demo appears at the end of each CD (not mentioned on sleeve). Proof the band could play, hairs on back of my neck stand when I listen to the power and (this will upset the Sid Vicious type angry sex pistols fan) funky-ness of the early Pistols. The rejected Thomas "Anarchy" is a joy - better guitar solo's in my opinion. Shame Steve Jones' "Audition" comment is tagged on to the wrong "Pretty Vacant".

one word describes this sex pistols compilation album and that is "Awsome". it really is great, full of classic tracks full of the pistols' trademark punk ethics and sarcasm. my personal faves are "god save the queen" and "i wanna be me". all i can say is if you like rock music, and want something loud, buy this, you will never regret it!

Although a lot of the Sex Pistols CD's out there repeat the same songs over and again, Raw's slightly different in that it contains less covers and more of the original material written by the band. The sound hasn't been cleaned up as much and sounds a lot more real, and Rotten's voice shines out. The version of Pretty Vacant on this CD is excellent, as is Submission, and Anarchy in the UK sounds great on any album. In fact, I pretty much love all the tracks on here, hard pressed to pick a favourite really. All in all, a good solid Pistols album and good value really.

I remember when I first heard about this album as a teenager in 1981. I asked the main punk in our street what it was like and he just said "Yeah, it's a laugh!" and wouldn't elaborate. So I went and bought it, assuming it was an album of songs. This album contains NO songs, apart from small snippets from ads, and is, for the most part, made up of interviews. Upon discovering this I was initally shocked as I'd been wondering how "songs" with titles like 'Big Tits Across America' were going to sound(!). This album is in fact a collection of interview clips; adverts for TV & radio; and various other odds and sods edited into one big montage.
