I brought this album purely of curiosity: I'd stopped buying single-artist albums by dance acts some time ago; generally because 90% of them were 'one hit wonders' ie the single was good but the rest of the album stank and you never heard from them again.

With the massive success of "Lola's Theme" and "Back to Basics" my curiosity was piqued but with both tracks being such massive tracks, they were played to death over the summers that each was released and so I was put off the album.

But it would appear that a late release of the album (is Lola's Theme really nearly 2 years old!!?) was an excellent strategy. Not only do both singles sound fresh again, but the rest of this album is pretty hot too.

Lola's Theme is an absolute classic, and comparing it to Spiller's Groovejet is sacrilege. Spiller are good for one thing, and that's dogfood, although listening to Sophie Ellis Bextor's vocals - we're back onto the subject of dogfood again. :-)

The Shapeshifters have come up with a brilliant re-work of the old Orbital track `Chime` and there are some really good groovy mixes, it is well worth grabbing a copy of this CD single. The Shapeshifters are now signed with Defected, one of my favourite dance music labels. They have also mixed one of the `In The House` compilations which will be worth buying too, released 25/08/08. Can`t wait.

Why-oh-why has this album not been granted a UK release?

This is maybe the greatest drum'n'bass album i have ever heard - warm synths and uplifting vocals, interwoven with a plethora of organic sounds. The band being New Zealanders, the youth/hippy vibe runs right through the core of the album. The overall sound is really fresh.

In my opinion, this is also an album for people who don't listen to drum'n'bass (!) due to its sheer 'musical' content. Anyone in to the 'Hospital Records' side of the scene should buy this album without delay.

A summer album to keep you going through the winter months!
