This CD gave my partner and I what we now affectionately call 'our song' - its 'Never, never, never' and means a great deal to us both. The rest of the CD is a sublime listening experience, sending shivers down your spine and making you laugh and cry. A wonderful collection of iconically sung masterpieces. Thank you Shirl.

Thanks to BGO we are able to experience again the wonderful releases of Shirley Bassey that we originally loved on LP. Hearing her powerful voice calling across the years makes me for one feel young again. It is a shame that most people think of her as the Goldfinger Girl without realising that her range is so much more and she is the most exciting live performer of our generation. These albums are a true testament to her command of emotion and diction which make a Bassey interpreation of a song a truly professional and artistic triumph. It is also wonderful to see the original photography that made Shirley a fashion icon.

At last after its original issue over 35 years ago this fabulous double album is coming out on October 6th, and it was about time. Shirley Bassey is one of those performers who lights up completely on the stage. Her voice is so powerful and so controled that you lose nothing of the perfection aquired only in a studio recording but rather there is an extra touch of excitement due to the once in a lifetime live perfomance. Whoever probably due to the fact that she is singing to a Japanese audience Miss Bassey seems more polite more poised than in other live recordings like her talk of the town show or even the carnegie hall concert. I would recommend this CD to everyone who's welsh,once you listen to it you'll know what i mean,especially Ar Lan Y Mor and Myfanwy.Every time I listen to it I think of home,of the beach and of the beautiful countryside.ADD IT TO YOUR COLLECTION.

For the most part, we Yanks know Bassey for her contributions to the Bond films, with her rendition of the "Goldfinger" theme, without a doubt, being one of the best performances in all of pop music history. We are not as fortunate as the British - and the rest of the world - to be as familiar with the legendary singer's total discography. However, it appears that "Get the Party Started" should change all that as it is truly an album for the masses and those that truly appreciate a magnificent vocalist. When this album was released on United Artists label in 1975 it peaked at number 2 and stayed in the charts for 23 weeks!. This cd version adds 4 additional tracks (Goldfinger, No Regrets, I (Who Have Nothing), and What Kind Of Fool Am I)which were actually EMI/Columbia recordings. It is a good introduction to the recordings of Shirley Bassey. However, EMI should be ashamed of the quality of the reproduction of the album sleeve. I could make a better copy with my home scanner and my copy of the original vinyl album.

BGO once again release another great 2 CD set. This time two great live albums "At the Pigalle" from 1965 (UK #15) and "Live at Talk of the Town" (UK #38) from 1970. Both albums have a unique sound. "At The Pigalle" is a much more intimate affair and finds Bassey singing some superb standards as well as her hits "With These Hands" and "I Who Have Nothing". Bassey sounds confident and relaxed, her vocals are assured; there is no sign of the shrillness that is often found in her studio recordings leading up to this recording. The other CD was recorded in 1970, and was Shirley's return to the UK after a couple of years as a tax exile. This is the first time this album has been released on CD.
