On this CD Joanna Macgregor has brought together practice sessions and improvised jams with other musicians and an eclectic collection of composers from Django Bates to John Cage, and leaping back a few centuries to the melancholic tones of John Dowland. Although at times the CD seems a bit disjointed each track is a gem in itself. The rehearsal feel to the CD emphasises the increasingly flexible forms being developed by contemporary composers and puts the music in a novel context, tasting it from behind the scenes. Another great success from Joanna Macgregor!
