When i think of classical music it's some big bloke on stage singing in some language that sounds like it's from another planet. After seeing nella fantasia and mal di luna on classicas fm (sky) i was blown away. I could actually understand what she was saying. I went out and bought it. If your not sure about classical music then listen to this. Or try russell watson, bond or wild. Thank you summer for introducing me to classical music. Look forward to the next album.

"If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one ... Nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could."

These lines are from this CD opening song, "Fragile", the concert having taken place on the evening of 9/11.

This is not just a live rehash of songs already recorded in the studio - although "Mad About You", "If you Love Somebody", and "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" (all very good songs) are - many have been re-arranged for this live recording. For example, "Fragile" is more upfront and immediate; the solo cello in "When We Dance" fits perfectly; and "Moon Over Bourbon Street" is more jazzy than the original. Some of the songs lose out due to the lack of a full accompaniment, so that "Fields Of Gold", for instance, ... Read More:

When his first Dowland approach was released a few years ago, there was a gentleman from the States that pointed right here in this pages that Sting's recording is far from what we should expect from a year 2000 journey into John Dowland's music and, if somebody is really willing to hit the sky into this direction, then ECM Records recordings with The Dowland Project is the right answer. It is still indubitable truth and though I pretty much appreciate most of the Sting Projects or The Music of Police Projects, I should advise Sting to stick on being played by others, not to perform what he obviously isn't, a classical trained singer.

Sting's seventh studio album (2003) is a welcome addition to the collection. Here, an unconventional conventionality holds sway. It is replete with excellent lyrics, often to do with the subject of love and personal relationships - an area where Sting excels in songwriting and singing. We have songs of angry love, hopeful love, spiritual love, dead love, bitter love, strange love, and love of life. Religion in a variety of modes also features heavily: Sacred Love indeed! It is produced again by Kipper and Sting, this album possessing a good upfront sound.

Three of the tracks I can take or leave: `Stolen Car' is too contrived, whilst the production behind `The Book of My Life' simply doesn't cut it, despite the cello and sitar and the lyrics betraying a love of life. ... Read More:

I am a big Police fan now after I discovered their self-titled album in the summer last year. They are one of my favourite bands and they are so amazing. Sting's own music just doesn't have the energy that The Police have. Sting's solo music is more personal and is more sensitive and expressive. I bought the greatest hits compilation Fields of Gold a while ago and I was totally impressed. It is an amazing album and has all of Sting's best songs on it. So if you want the best of Sting then that is the album to buy. The album takes songs from Sting's first solo work from 1984 to Ten Summoners tales in 1994, arguably his best album. I was so impressed by his material from this period that I thought I would go for the album just after Ten Summoners tales and buy an album with no songs ... Read More:

This Multich. SACD certainly grows on you, but as another reviewer claimed, I also think that Sting's voice is mixed too loud some places. And I have to adjust the sub-bass throughout the album, caused by varying volumes there as well... But I enjoy it very much.
