While preparing for 'Peter and the Wolf' Sting listened to some earlier recordings and monitored the reactions of his own children to the different interpretations. He decided to record a version in which the only character who speaks with his (Sting's) natural voice is Peter. Claudio Abbado helped him to create the other accents. The resulting narration is enthusiastic and charasmatic but never too contrived. The extras on the disc are a real joy too. The delightful little upbeat march in B flat major (op.99) is for me two and a half minutes of pure bliss. The 'Overture on Hebrew Themes' is a beautiful reading and the 'Classical Symphony' is the best reading I've ever heard. I would purchase this disc for this performance of the Classical ... This album and the tour is by far the best work that sting has ever done,which is emphasized by the unbelievable drumming of omar hakim,some sweet bass from darryl jones,lightening fingers of the late kenny kirkland and the superb as ever branford marsalis the only let down on this album is the omission of the drum solo at the end of burn for you which is best illustrated on the video of the same name but thats me being picky...iwould highly recommend this album to anyone who wants to see a diffrent side to sting,a not as slick side.

This is probably one of the best and full with music albums I ever heard. A milestone in the chillout and the easy listening. Not a typical Sting but it still remains a great deal of pleasure listening to this. HEAR THE MUSIC

Nowadays it's cool and hip to play garage rock and roll, unfortunately the Stingrays may have just been a bit too ahead of their time. Two studio, two live albums and a clutch of singles was all they released, all on vinyl and an overview of their career was badly needed. Basically, the band started out in the psychobilly mode with Dinosaurs, releaseing the claasy garage album that was Cryptic And Coffee Time. This cd contains all their best cuts from the early era, along with a load of demos from the latter part of their career. Singles Dont Breakdown, June Rhyme, Escalator are here, along with a demo of Behind The Beyond and thier incarnation as The Bananamen. The demos are a nice take on what was definately one of my favourite albums ... Read More:

I must confess, i never used to be a huge craig david fan, but this single is amazing! It is so well written, with really meaningful lyrics and the best vocals ive heard from craig. He really has proved, beyond any doubt with this single, that he is here to stay. Sting is great on this (as always) and the two voices go together perfectly. All in all, a fantastic single. I cant get enough of it at the moment.

I must confess, i never used to be a huge craig david fan, but this single is amazing! It is so well written, with really meaningful lyrics and the best vocals ive heard from craig. He really has proved, beyond any doubt with this single, that he is here to stay. Sting is great on this (as always) and the two voices go together perfectly. All in all, a fantastic single. I cant get enough of it at the moment.
