The Super Furry Animals were one of the most prolific singles acts of the late 90's and 00's. Despite never hitting the top 10 they scored an impressive 17 top 40 UK hits and enjoyed a string of big selling albums (Rings Around The World made no. 3). A fanatic fan base and reputation as an explosive and hugely original live act also helped to make the Welsh Wizards one of the biggest alternative pop/rock groups for over a decade.
This singles compilation does exactly what you'd expect - compiling all the hits - not in chronological order but simply to make a great listen - and is further proof that SFA were streets ahead of the majority of their Brit-Pop contemporaries.
There is so much intelligence, wit, musical inventiveness and, ... Read More:

Summer 2001. I had fallen in love with SFA long ago. But this happened to be the first release I had got on release day (have got every one ever since). I was in the middle of my GCSE exams. I got up early and waited outside HMV from around 8.45 to purchase the CD and DVD. I think this album changed my life. I knew this band were special but I didn't realise every song on this album would stir every emotion in me. I will never forget the summer of 2001. I left school. I heard one of the best albums ever. Buy it, Just buy it. Listen to it. It may take a few listens but you will cherish it for life. Believe me. It is one of the best and most adventurous albums EVER. Impossible to define a genre. Thank you. And trust me.

I think this is up there with Rings Around The World for consistency. I've heard all their albums and have most of them. The Furries, like most bands, write some dross aswell. The advantage of having pcs/MP3 players nowadays is that you can easily create your own playlists by cherry-picking the best tracks from each album. I've done this with tracks from MWNG, Guerilla, Fuzzy Logic, Love Craft and Radiator and I'm left with one of my favourite playlists. ROTW and Hey Venus are, however, consistent enough to merit listening to without dabbling. As an introduction to SFA I would recommend these latter two albums as starters. If you don't like them, then you're just not a SFA fan -listen to something else.

This is a record that I seem to be able to appreciate more each time I listen to it. I still don't like it as much as "Love Kraft", but it seems that I can appreciate the composition of the album more when I stop looking for stand out tracks. I wonder actually whether this is a concept album. I've not heard mention of it so far, but there are more excursions into political discourse than the Super Furries usually incorporate. The psychedelic imagery is still there, and also the fun factor.

I've always thought of the Super Furry Animals as the British Flaming Lips, but at the same time I always wonder why I think of them that way. They don't really sound alike, but I guess they share a kind of outlook and aesthetic.

This record is impeccably ... Read More:

I've only recently became a Super Furry Animals, i own Love Kraft, Rings Around The World and Songbook, most recently i bought Fuzzy Logic, and the leap from fuzzy logic to rings around the world and love kraft is unbelievable, i don't really like fuzzy logic, i find it too heavy, where as Love Kraft and RATW are more chilled out, and relaxing, (esp Love Kraft), but i prefer the latest stuff compared to the earlier stuff, brilliant album

Brilliant genre hopping cd from mix-tape heaven. Really sums up the Furrys sound and influence, and features some cracking tunes. Anyone who truly loves music + the sfa, but hates genre boxes should buy it...

I'm a huge fan of bands debut albums. Whether it be Oasis, The Clash, Weezer or R.E.M. There's something really pure and unspoilt about that first effort that artists make. From the heart without celebrity to marr the music. Super Furry's is no exception. Fuzzy logic rocks along in a wonderful dream like scape that they will never recapture in any of they're follow ups. Not to say that they haven't made other quality albums. They sure have! But please buy this one, it's outstanding and stands the test unlike many 90's albums. 5 stars*****

For a b-sides and rarities compilation this fits together suprisingly well, and is coherent enough to pass for an full album. Whilst TMDGAF alone is worth the money, the other tracks map the evolution of SFA from a techno band (shown on Guerrilla- Wherever I lay my phone and Some things come from nothing) to their current electism. Essential for any SFA fan, and recommended to any curious, free-thinking music fan

this was the second album i bought by them, jsut because i wanted the single 'demons' but straightaway i realised that this is a classic album. the opener 'placid casual' is really dramatic sounding, 'demons' is a gorgeous record as is 'down a different river', even the artwork in the sleeve rocks! The best thing about this album is it surprises on every listen as there is a lot happening without being hard to listen to. also love the way you get elements of beach boys harmonising. Love it.

After a search I couldn't find a negative review for this album, 4 and 5* on here and 8+/10 on wikipedia, which suprised me. I don't especailly like the way different genres are thrown together and although it probably is well produced it sounds a bit of a mess to me. The only tracks I find of any merit are Do or Die (bought the album because of this track), The Turning Tide, Northern Lites and Night Vision, which is about a third of the album. The rest is rather slow and has a fair amount of techno in it, personally I would not recommend this album but judging by the other reviews what do I know?
