This is just such a brilliant, wonderful record - both Susheela's incredibly beautful voice and the superb support from her guitarist and partner Sam Mills. I hope their immense popularity in France will be matched by equal enthusiasm on this side of the Channel.See The Guardian's rave revioew of their last record 33 1/3.

Music : 33 1/3
Susheela Raman has always been known for her bravery, and this set is her most audacious yet, a confident reinterpretation of rock classics by the likes of Lou Reed, Hendrix, Lennon and Dylan, which are now treated as though they originated from India, Africa or the Mississippi Delta.
Amazingly, she gets away with it. If her last album, Music For Crocodiles, was best when she explored her Indian roots (she was born in England to parents from South India) this new set shows she can show equal passion when treating English-language songs, which are tackled with emotion and a restraint she has not always shown in the past. The result is an unexpectedly inventive but intimate set, in which Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone' becomes a cool personal ... Read More:

3.Love Trap by: Susheela Raman

Music : Love Trap
The very album name itself conjures up some reject from the 80's. But despite this - there's genuinely a few lovely tracks on here. The lyrics are utterly daft, but most of the album is a good listen. There are also a few stinkers on the album too so be prepared to fast forward a few. It's not as good as her debut album 'Salt Rain' but is still worth listening to.

The core thing is that Susheela Raman has a really beautiful voice. Even when she sings the traditional songs (which I far prefer) her voice has a haunting and hypnotic individuality.

The whole 'Copy Controlled' thing (you can stop reading now if you're not interested!). Pretty lousy thing for the record labels to do. Unfortunately they are legally allowed ... Read More:

Music : Music for Crocodiles
This is by far Susheela's best album yet. Again she sings in different languages, namely Tamil, French and English, and the whole musical concoction this album offers has both a deeply moving and compelling effect on the listener, seducing you with it's smoky sounds and beats. Music For Crocodiles is one of my favourites with it's bold, exhilarating delivery rising to a pitch at the end. Meanwhile is an extremely provocative sexy track which just makes you want to dance. Sharvanna is a gorgeous soft mellow track which is evocative of other worlds, sensual and earthy and beautiful. In fact, all the tracks are brilliant. You cannot go wrong with this album, it is pure inspiration and genius personified. Buy it and love it.
