I love Suzanne Vega - she is probably remembered by her more famous tracks, Luka and Tom's Diner, but her album provides us with a wealth of beautiful, meaningful lyrics and her striking and soulful voice. My favourites tracks are Fancy Poultry/ Ironbound and Language, with beautiful lyrics such as 'if language were liquid, it would be rushing in, instead here we are in a silence more eloquent than any words could ever be'. Lovely album.

I'm worried about the 2-star lad...if he can't get his head round the first four tracks - Marlene is good but the weakest of the 4 - then his taste-o-meter needs to be serviced. Cracked and Small Blue thing are sublime, simple, strong tunes perfect for Vega's sing/speak clear voice. I normally go for songs with a bit more pep but this is quality stuff. I do agree with some comments that it runs out of steam thereafter and consider there is a terrific album between this and the at-times over-produced Solitude Standing. I will check out Queen and the Soldier again, thanks for the heads up.

I have listened to a lot of Suzanne Vegas hits and they are great and this latest album is just great. The sound of it leaves you wanting to listen again and again. It's a bit short but the quality of the music makes up for it. Best albums of 2007 were to me: Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly, Angry mob Amy Winehouse - Back to black KT Tunstall - Drastic fantastic Amy Macdonald - This is the life But I have to say Suzanne Vegas is the best and its the least famous, it just goes to show that the mora famous you are doesn't mean your better. I couldn't care less about the likes of Leona Lewis even if she had a huge hit I think ... Read More:

Not her strongest combination. But some of tracks rank alongside her very finest. Experimental in structure and a very brave mould-breaking project. If this were her only release, then I would have given it 5. It's only a 4 'cos of the comparison against some of her other releases.

This album works as a collection of 11 tracks. It's one of the few I've heard with no weak songs. Her best album by far in my opinion.
