This deliciously packaged fourth album from the fantastic TV On The Radio is a real gem. Following on from their 2006 album Return to Cookie Mountain, the album has a distinctly different feel. Where RtCM played with expansive sounds and interesting rhythms, `Dear Science' has a more refined and cleaner sound. Don't worry, their delightful percussion is still there, just less pronounced, making room for a large use of sax and brass, and as such the tracks on Dear Science have a fuller sound when compared to their previous album.

I was already slightly familiar with 'Golden Age' having heard it on the radio a few times, and I'd heard Family Tree once, but these songs are only the tip of the iceberg when you listen to the whole album. ... Read More:

I had heard of TV On The Radio before, and seen them on various critics'lists but I'd never given them a listen until about 3 weeks ago. TV On The Radio surrounds you with its rich, complex sound. I listened to both Return to Cookie Mountain and their debut and was initially drawn to the bassier, more 'bare' sound of their first LP but I realised I find the vocals and synths on RTCM make for, if not an immediately catchy, then a deeper, more layered album.

RTCM is like a good novel, in that there is a definite beginning: I Was A Lover, middle: Wolf Like Me, and end: Wash The Day. These are the tracks that stand out the most, but without Let the Devil In, and Dirtywhirl, there would be gaps in the plot. Playhouses is slammed by some as a disappointment ... Read More:

Ok...so the last guy didn't like it that much he had to say so twice, but this album is dauntingly excellent. I have had it now for a year and a bit and it is one of the few cd's I have that recieves constant play. And every time another thing jumps out that makes you appreciate it that much more. Not a huge deviation from their e.p although noticeably so in some songs, but is that really a fair criticism when the e.p is so fresh and flawlessly concieved? A unique and incredible achievement.

Without doubt one of the best things I've heard for a very long time.

I first heard the title track on a radio show on BBC 6Music, as soon as the song started with the loping beat and beautiful vocal harmonies I knew I was hearing something distinctly original and utterly soulful! After hearing 'Young Liars' I immediately bought the EP of the same name - and boy was I blown away all over again! The EP was on constant repeat at home, at work, in the car and on my portable.

I have their other albums, but they don't come anywhere near 'Young Liars' for consistent brilliance.

Apologies for the over-the-top gushing - it really is an amazing record. A true classic.

These guys are such an exciting group. On their last album they impressed with crazy production on great songs, leaving high expectations for the future. This album is fantastic. It lives up to all that anyone could have wanted from it. Eclectic, yet focused. Completely unlike any other band I've ever heard, and from what I've seen on youtube, a band with an incredible energy. I really don't need to argue my case more, except maybe for telling you to listen to 'Wolf Like Me'. I've only known the song a couple of months and it's firmly established itself as one of my all time favorites.
