Quite simply quality. It's a mix of Wish and the Head on the Door. If you think the Cure have lost their way in recent years, this is an absolute return to form. If you have liked Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers & The Cure you won't be disappointed, however. I suggest you invest!
Looking forward to the next chapter.....originally planned to be a double with Smith re-producing 4:13 and adding in numerous other songs...can't wait

Quite simply the best record I've heard this year.
And there have been some quite good ones this year but this is in a different league.
Be warned the album will sound pretty flat after listening to these mixes.
Can't pick a favourite, all equally excellent.
Have fallen in love with the Cure again.

I'm a big fan of The Cure and have adored them for longer than I care to admit, but this album is by far my favorite. Although other Cure albums are brilliant, this one keeps the same atmosphere through the whole album which for me, makes it stand out. Definately the soundtrack to my youth as I was in my late teens when this came out and I was at that time the sterotypical teenager who heard this and thought "At last, someone who understands me!."

However many years later, I still listen to this album a lot and still love it. The music and the lyrics are just pure genius and although it may be thought of as rather melancholy, it is, in the wonderful self-obsessed way where you can just wallow in it all. Although melancholy it always makes ... Read More:

I bought this album in 1986 on cassette, and still play it occasionally today. The cassette version had most of the CD's tracks on the A-side, while the B-side had a whole side of unavailable B-sides, which have been reissued on the 'Join The Dots' compilation. Still worth buying as in introduction to the early work of The Cure, and worth buying just for
standout tracks such as 10:15 Saturday Night, Boys Don't Cry, A Forest, Charlotte Sometimes, and The Lovecats.

I never rated the Cure when they first started. All that stuff about jumping other people's trains, killing middle-easterners and not crying 'cos you're a boy didn't do much for me.

However a mate persuaded me to go and see them on the "Faith" tour and I was blown away. Bought "Faith" the next day and, when "Pornography" came out, I just had to have it (made even better by the childish pleasure of asking my parents to buy me "Pornography" for my birthday).

I loved "Faith" and I loved Joy Division, the Banshees, and the rest of the post-punk crowd, but this was something else.

With an opening line of "It doesn't matter if we all die" and a closing line of "I must fight this sickness, find a cure", and a whole range of ... Read More:

1992 must have been an unusual time to be in the Cure. After having released "Disintegration", a record that would eventually come to define the band, and having had to fight to get that album released, the world finally succumbed to the charms of the band. American success, hit singles, big tours, etc. However, in between 1989 and 1992, the entire musical climate had shifted, and the world into which "Wish" was released was very different from the times when "Disintegration" had appeared.

Faced with the prospect of being challenged by grunge, baggy, and shoegazing, the three major genres of the day, the Cure retreated into their own little soundworld, releasing an album that didn't rely on current trends or sounds, and as such has stood the test of time ... Read More:

This is the album that really marked the Cure out as a great act. Until this moment they could have been noted as merely an interesting cult band. This here is a fine, fine collection of recordings.

Clocking in at a mere 35 minutes the original release felt much longer because of it's deeply seductive power. Within it's beautiful simplicity lies an instinctive and thrilling songwriting talent. There are no bad tracks here at all. Even the short instrumental interludes (that originally marked the beginnings of side one and side two of the vinyl album & cassette) are just perfect.

This album was just one of the reasons why 'fans' took the Cure so much to heart. I'm not talking about the usual black clad, backcombed pale and poetic youths of the time ... Read More:

This amazingly lush offering from the Cure contains a vast amount of rarities and 'B-sides' from their long and successful recording career.

It's not really the kind of collection you stick on and listen to all the way through. This is beacuse it's really a feast for committed fans of the band. The Cure were both fabulously precocious and stunningly gifted and this combination meant that they had the balls to try out all sorts of ideas.

This also means that 'Join The Dots' contains some deleriously successful bits of music and others that don't quite work.

When the first singles collection (Standing On A Beach) was released, the B-side of the cassette edition contained the B-sides to the singles. 'Join the Dots' includes all of these and much, much ... Read More:
