from Gimme Shelter to the last track, good stuff. Very difficult to say something that has not been said already, hard to differentiate between the tracks and say this is better than that. Taken overall, none are better than any other, the whole is one perfect album as performed by the Stones, who are one perfect rock band.

OKAY iam a massive fan of all the early stones albums..but without jones..or taylor,,nicky hopkins..or stu or even wyman..they have beome a limp boring pretentious joke..no soul..no balls..and very fake..they are in it for the money..the ego..why do they do the same songs exactly the same way every tour???its boring..its awful to see.. WHAT HAPPENED??..... we celebrate the 30th year since the stones made a great album( some girls-which isnt really that good)..and the 35 year since there last great tour 1973 australia...iam a hardcore fan, yes i love them but the reality is theyve been a limp, shtcick, conservative, boring load of rubbish for way to long..some songs done over and over agin..in bill wymans book he tellingly states that in 1977 mick started ... I had the vinyl version of this album. It is by far the best Rolling Stones collection on the market. This CD release is no disappointment. The sound quality is superb. I can add little to other reviews, with one exception. This was the only place that I knew the stereo version of "Paint it Black" to be. I can confirm that this reissue still has the "Paint it Black" track in stereo, which was a major reason for me buying this collection for another time.

I agree with a previous reviewer who says that this is a much better collection than "Hot Rocks." This is a much better collection and better sound quality.

This is it! This album is a distillation of all the hard-ons in the universe. This is the blueprint of rock. Rock's DNA. It's all here; blues, country, electric, lust, violence... Rockers, start here.

Beggars Banquest is considered one of the essential Rolling Stones albums. I have to say that whilst it contains some classic songs, there are more than a few fillers as well.

Here are my views.

Sympathy For The Devil:- one of the Stones best ever

No Expectations:- Brian Jones features little in this album, but what he does is wonderful - listen to the slide guitar

Dear Doctor:- mmmm. A bit of a novelty song. Amusing at first, Jaggers mimicry is spot on, but after a few listens the amusement wears thin

Parachute Woman:- Very underrated. Rather a hidden gem.

Jigsaw Puzzle:- Not particuarly good. A long song with no substance

Sreet Fighting Man:- Just brilliant. Based on the ... Read More:

Not a Rolling Stones album of course, but a fascinating source of information and exploration for anyone interested in finding out about the music that influenced the Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World (and should'nt that be Rhythm & Blues Band anyway?) when they were just a group of music mad teenagers scattered around various parts of North Kent, South London and Gloucestershire.

Rumour has it that Mick Jagger was carrying some of this very music with him when he first met Keith Richards on Platform 3 of Dartford Railway Station c.1962. Meanwhile down in Cheltenham, Brian 'Elmo' Jones was perfecting his Elmore James licks and working his way through the Muddy Waters songbook, including noting that Rolling Stone Blues might make a useful band name one day.

As far as I'm concerned, other than 'Brown Sugar,' you may as well throw the second disc away, or use it to keep your mug of tea on.
But... the first disc is so astoundingly, damned good, that you really don't care!

10.Jump Back - Best of '71-'93 by: Rolling Stones

Music : Jump Back - Best of '71-'93
This album starts, aptly enough, with 'Start Me Up', the song which the Rolling Stones sold to Microsoft in order to keep Keith Richards in drug money. It is a mediocre slice of radio-friendly rock, and easily one of the most underwhelming songs the Rolling Stones have ever released.

'Brown Sugar' sounds like what it is: a completely unashamed rip-off of Rhythm and Blues which was pioneered and perfected by far superior black musicians, whilst 'Harlem Shuffle', originally recorded by Bob and Earl is a tragic and cruel massacre to rival anything planned by Pol Pot or Saddam Hussein. Please just skip it, and listen to the original instead, for your own sakes.

This theme of pilfering black culture leads us nicely onto 'It Only Rock n' Roll (And it's stolen)', which illustrates ... Read More:
