This is wonderful - I bought it on the back of one of the Amazon recommendations (you know - other customers bought this when they bought that type of thing).
I love Damien Rice, Tom MaCrae and Nick Drake. This album is in danger of replacing all others as my favourite. On my second playing in a row, love the feeling of it, soooo mellow, oral chocolate.
Seriously considering using "Better" as my wedding anthem next year; yes, I know it's soppy and sentimental, but it did just make me cry.
Looking forward to getting "Feather and Stone" in the next day or so.

twee, twee, twee.

Been to the Chris Martin school of not-quite-singing, have we, Tom? Yes, I know, you'd rather be compared to Damien Rice, but he'd punch your lights out. What's that, Tom? Jeff Buckley... ah, that's who you'd rather be... and Nick Drake?
Really?
But those folks were out on their own, haunted romantic geniuses (geni? What's the plural?)
They created heartstopping works of originality and impact... you've just imitated them badly and slapped lyrics on top that a lovelorn 13 year old would hesitate to set down in their diary- "my smile won't smile, my laugh won't laugh"... deep. Edgy. Thought-provoking! Hmmm.

Yes, I'm being cruel. But when there's the geuinely beautiful likes of The ... Read More:

3.Better by: Tom Baxter

Music : Better
The video for Tom Baxter's 'Better' sums it all up really - the camera flicks between a guitar-strumming Tom and a selection of couples exchanging glances, holding hands, giggling at sweet nothings and gazing adoringly into each others' eyes... and despite what you might expect, it's totally convincing, just like the song.

You see, this is a love song for people who are actually in love. I'm not talking about the kind of love that gets reported in the gossip columns, or the pale imitation that fuels the teenage pop market - this song is about love making life worth living. 'See, what I'm trying to say is, you make things better/And no matter what the day is, with you here, it's better' sings Tom over a tune that's instantly appealing and ... Read More:

Music : The Ep
I bought this CD on the strength of hearing 'my declaration' once on Jonathon Ross' radio show. After waiting for the release date I have not been disappointed, the song is as beautiful, anthemic and tender as I remembered. You can't ask for more than this - it is musically and lyrically poignant, memorable and enjoyable to be swept up in.

Tom Baxter has a gentle and worn vocal delivery that is engaging and affecting. The build up from a bare acoustic sound at the beginning of the track to the orchestral strings at the crescendo really grabs the listener and holds onto the heartstrings. I have heard comparisons to Jeff Buckley. The artist that most quickly comes to my mind is Damien Rice. They both sing beautifully and gently and write touching and ... Read More:
