Not heard the VHS Video in a while but this is so much better! Sound quality not the best on a DVD but a vast improvement on VHS. More songs, about 20 mins extra and Bono hasn't yet learned his stage craft. The Edge looks very un-rockstar as does Adam with his curly hair, Larry looks like he's still in (primary) school and Bono has the most ridiculuous hairdo (even by his standards).

I could have done without Surrender & Seconds but the rest of the songs are storming, from Out of Control through to 40. This is a very loud DVD, so turn it up and destroy the neighbourhood! U2 when they were little!

This DVD version of the famous Red Rocks concert has been a long time coming and it does not disappoint. It is great to have the whole concert restored and the missing tracks are so good one wonders why they were ever omitted fom the original VHS version. The most impressive aspect of this release is the improved sound. The bass in particular is awesome, and I can hear phases from Adam Clayton that I have never been able to hear before. Edge's guitar is equally impressive and the whole sound picture is perfetly balanced.

A previous reviewer mentions how this is the last time we see U2 in their original early form before the introduction of sequencers. The Unforgettable Fire album saw the band delve into ambiant, keyboard supported ... Read More:

Although the band still manage to create great songs and sounds it was during the 1980s that they arguably produced some of their best work and indeed, created some of the songs of all time which made the band the worldwide phenomenon they are today.

Songs like Pride, With or with out you, I still haven't found what I'm looking for and Where the streets have no name are now iconic and serve to represent what was a golden era for U2 and the music world in general.

Even if your not bothered about the B sides this compilation is simply brilliant and well worth owning. For me it should be in any music lovers collection.

Just as a final note, the music does not stop at track 14. After 'All I want is you', you will be ... Read More:

Joshua Tree was made at a time when the band weren't as wrapped up in their own importance, or maybe before we had noticed it.
It is full of the earnestness that has become their trademark. In later albums this became too forced for this cynic's liking at least.

The album is full of memorable songs, perhaps Trip through your Wires is the weakest one but all the others cry out for repeated listening.

Bono is perhaps the ultimate lead singer, making himself the centre of attention with his performances and lyrics. However a song like "Mothers of the Dissappeared" makes you believe that his heart is certainly in the right place.
The Edge's guitar drives the songs forward again and again and Adam and Larry round off one ... Read More:

As a huge fan of U2, I don't like this compilation and never listen to it. I only bought it for the Milan DVD (which is worth it) and the booklet. I have all the songs already, obviously, but that's not why this is a bad 'Best Of'. It's because it really isn't the best of. I know that is an opinion, but I don't see how you can release something so titled and ignore almost a whole decade of a band's career. I understand this CD is for new fans who might have got into U2 just recently, but this is no way to show them what to expect. It's heavily weighted in favour of the 00s output, with the 80s following behind, and the 90s almost airbrushed out of history. It's a shame because for me, the 90s was the time of U2's best and most exciting stuff. Achtung Baby and ... Read More:

Many U2 fans and reviewers here seem to think that Achtung Baby is their best album. I disagree. Actually I think it is one of their dullest. Apart from the fabulous "One", "Ultraviolet" and "Love is Blindness", the other songs are fairly bland. You could pretty much swap music or lyrics between any of them and not notice the difference. "Zooropa" has more energy and range in this genre, and all their early albums are miles better. I'd even say "Pop" has a better mix of material. I don't know why but, apart from the three songs mentioned, this album fails to move me - unlike most of U2'sother albums.

This collection is a perfect introduction to any new or casual U2 fan. It is a collection that demands to be heard in full, as there is not a weak song in the collection, although fans will dispute the inclusion and exclusion of certain songs.
Personal highlights include, Even Better than the real thing, One, Stay, Gone and The Fly.
It abtly demenstrates Bonos ability as a lyricist and singer, while also showing why Edge is one of the most revered guitarists around, and Larry Mullen Jr and Adam Clayton keep the musical pulse pumping. It also opens up listeners to delve further into U2 albums, definitley check out Pop(different) Atomic Bomb(guitar and more guitar) ATYCLB(melodic) and Acthung Baby(classic). This best of is a must for any music fan.

I can't understand why any U2 aficionado would criticise RATTLE AND HUM. I have THE JOSHUA TREE too, which seems to be everyone's favourite, but this one is surely on a par. Well, it's all a matter of opinion, and mine is that it is! Seventeen tracks, no less, and some classics among them. For me the best include Desire, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Pride (In the Name of Love), Angel of Harlem, God Part II, and the best of a fantastic lot: All I Want Is You. Even if you removed all these outstanding songs the album would still be pretty decent. 25 years down the line and this one album contains some of the best rock music in an entire generation. Forget the 'Americanist' allegations, the moaning about the accompanying feature film - this is U2 at their best. A ... Read More:

I could sum this album up easily in just one sentence by simply saying that The Unforgettable Fire is easily my favourite U2 album, and without-a-doubt one of my favourite albums ever.

The first 5 tracks are perfect, just perfect, it is probably the greatest half of an album ever released in my opinion. Sure "Pride" is overplayed but it is a brilliant song just like the other 4 on this half of the album, including the oh to often overlooked "Wire" and "Promenade".

The second half of the album starts of with a nice short mood piece called "4th of July", it is a song I would probably never listen to it by itself but it fits in with the album nicely and I can't imagine it without it. "Bad" is another amazing song, and one of U2's best songs. "Indian Summer ... Read More:

This is my favourite album of all time. Worth every penny of the 19.99. The isn't just a double CD as one of the premature reviews said previously. Its a beautifully packaged book with 2 CD's. Why do people review items before they come out? I'm a life long U2 fan and I have all of the bonus tracks on vynyl so its great to now have them now on CD. The remastering of the main album is vastly superior to the original CD. Who's complaining.
