Like all the previous reviews,this album is a classic & one that never gets tired,other albums come & go but this one is here to stay,been a massive fan of zero 7 from the beginning since i first heard the sublime "destiny" on a late night chillout radio show,every track on the album is outstanding,wether it's the beautiful instrumental tracks or the ones with vocals,it's simply a pleasure to listen to time & time again,a true classic! Also check out the brilliant "when it falls" album,another excellent release by the outstanding zero 7...

The sophomore slump hits Zero 7 in their second album, "When It Falls." Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns create a fairly pleasant mesh of downtempo jazz and trip-hop ambience, but their major failure is monotony -- there are few highs or lows in this pleasant if unmemorable album. The mellow montony of the well-named "Warm Sound" sets off the tone of the album, echoed in the vague "Over Our Heads," spacey title track, and mellowly uninviting "In Time." Unfortunately, these are the most likely to send listeners to sleep -- musically, they possess plenty of beauty and sweetness, and have a distinct polish. The opening track is the one used in British TV advertising for the album (and if I remember rightly, it became a single) so it has a "head start", I immediately liked it and the track which followed. The rest of the album is very relaxed but the smorgasboard approach means that overall I enjoy the previous album a lot more. Perhaps if I'd bought it when it was brand new I would like it more but respect to Zero 7 for getting to their third album and nearly 10 years, on a dance level they're getting close to M-People's Longevity.

This album has so many extraordinarily chilled out tunes! Every time I listen to it, the songs transport me to somewhere in my mind where it's all warm and sunshiny. Perfect for holidays, for around camp fires, for chillin and for those cold winter nights when you need some warmth for the soul.

Zero7 are so good! Not only they make great albums of their own music, they have also created on this CD an eclectic and fab mix of super chill out, funky music by others. There seems to be no end to their brilliance. If you love Zero7 you should love this album too.

1. Give It Away (perfect perfect perfect) 2. Polaris (dreamy sauntering jazz-waltz mixed with shimmering synths and dark chords, VERY reminiscent of Doves' 'Firesuite' in places, so great!) 3. Distractions (beautiful vocal track, a lovers' lament, desperate, melancholic, drowning in its own misty-eyed splendour) 4. Monday Night (Not on the album 'Simple Things' but a glorious jazz-tinged outerlude all the same)
