This CD incorporates some 20 titles, including the first ever recording of jazz "Dixie Jazz Band One Step" made on 26 February 1917. With one break and some variation in line-ups the Original Dixieland Jazz Band continued to play into the late 1930s, but all recordings on this CD are no later than 1920. Digital re-mastering may be wonderful but as historic recordings often survived on only wax, then quality cannot be perfect. Even so the clarity is good, "echo" has been supressed, and surface noise removed.
