from the opening bars of "i feel love" you know how good this cd will be! after 8 minutes of this you go into "with your love" an unknown track but its wonderful..only available on this cd! as dance hypnotic as the predecessor! then you have"last dance" a summer classic in its 12" glory!!! amazing!!! jumping straight into the macauthur park suite.."yes we know someone left a cake out" but the 18 minute frenzy that encapsulates "one of a kind" and "heaven knows"..its a bit too much! then into the 12" versions of "hot stuff" and "walk away"!!! if exstatic hasnt set in by now...you get "dim all the lights"...and to finish you off the full lenght versions of "tears are not enough" is a show stopper! if you only buy 1 donna ... i paid £15 for it on the High St. Pricy compared to amazon, but Metronomic Underground is worth that price alone.

This cd really evokes the magic of Back to the Future- it's almost as good as watching the film itself! The only notable tune that's missing is Mr Sandman. I would also prefer if the tracks were in the same order as the film. However, these are small criticisms of a great product. Enjoy!

Marries folk and trad, instrumentals and songs, originals and timeless classics.If you're interested in folk, or Irish music, or acoustic music you can't not have this album ! Planxty had 2 outstanding singers in Christy Moore (still enormously popular in his own right) and the hugely influential Andy Irvine (exceptional composer, and collector of folk songs from all over the world). The group featured the superb Liam O'Flynn on uileann pipes. Not only has O'Flynn influenced every Irish piper since, but also his prowess and beautiful tone have promoted the instrument to such an extent that many Scots and Galician pipers have added it along to their own native pipes. Can't really put this into words. Second only (and by a hair's breadth) to Appetite For Destruction. Stunning musicianship, incredible songs, fantastic twin guitars, tight-as-flip rhythm section. Tesla were once called thinking man's metal & also compared to Van Halen. What an insult!! Tesla were unique. I remember seeing them support Def Leppard at Leicester in 1987 and they blew the Leps (one of my fave bands) off stage. You can't pigeon hole Tesla. At their best (i.e. on this album) they were sensational. High octane rock music at it's sensational best. Unlike many others, this has stood the test of time & still sounds fresh as a daisy, even now. An incredible debut. It's stunning, please buy it!!

I first bought this in 1976 after seeing the Chieftains on the same bill as Freddie King and Eric Clapton !That day they had a profound effect on me as does this album.It is a collection of tunes beautifuly played by musicians who both care and love the music they are playing.There are no bad tracks,my personal favourites being "Drowsy Maggie","Morning Dew" and "Mna Na Eirrean".Whenever I hear the last track I am transported back to my native Ireland. A wonderful Irish album stunningly executed....and if youre ever in Clifden Paddy Malloys pub is equally as special ! Now whatever happened to that Eric Clapton fellow ?

I forget how many years ago i bought this, but it`s probably my most played album. Buy it on cd, you won`t regret it, i promise! It was definately thier best.

Sung with a deep and melodramatic voice, these tracks have an unmistakable feel of cabaret about them - but in a cool, Edith Piaf/Jacques Brel sort of way. Doleful accordions weep in the background as Dani Klein's alto tells tales of bad men and desperate love, and you can imagine nighthawks slouching over their absinthe in, as one track specifies, "a sleazy part of town". Very Edward Hopper. They pull it off, though. All this seedy, sexy, tango-ish over-the-top melancholia actually works. Just about every song on this CD is instantly recognisable. The sound is latino-inspired, but filtered through the chanson-tradition of the group's native Belgium. Roy Buchanan is quite simply the greatest electric white blues guitarist. Technically awesome, but with soul to spare. He succumbed to drink and drugs and his studio efforts can be patchy ( my advice is stick to the compilations & live albums after his first two studio efforts) but this is the exception, and by far his best studio effort. Recorded during a short tee total period in 1985 for the chicago blues company Alligator records this was nominated for a grammy and deservedly so. It starts off with a Bach Fugue played on a telecaster and just gets better and better. Think Stevie Ray Vaughan with 4 arms, 2 brains and an extra 10,000 volts in him. Killer Blues that have never been matched since his untimely death in 1988.
