I bought this album last year. I was searching for a particular tune that i heard years ago at night club. Ting a ling! brought back the days when raving was a must on friday nite. I wish i had the 12inch version at the time wouldn't mind it on cd! all of his famous tunes like wicked in bed, twice my age need i go on. I also have a 2cd album which is not bad but this album is far better. A must in anyones collection

This is every bit as good as 'Southside' - I am writing a review some ten years after buying it, but it has stood the test of time (even though I once took *only this* with me on a trip to the Isle of Barra, by mistake - such a long time with only one piece of music would normally have put me off for life!). Bluesy and ballsy, and - though not wishing to belittle their achivements - generally better than their more recent albums.

Music : As Raw as Ever
Trailer Load A Girls triggers off a rollercoaster of rhythms and rap, mostly unintelligible. Gun Pon Me and Flesh Axe are particularly raucous, the former's only discernible words being "jezebel, prostitute, mongrel" and there's a definite preoccupation with ladies throughout, as evidenced by titles like Woman Tangle and A Mi Di Girls Dem Love. Maxi Priest lends some respectability as he duets with Shabba on the radio-friendly Housecall, while the closing track, The Jam, features KRS-1 of Boogie Down Productions. Shabba rants about his hero Yellowman on Where Does Slackness Come From?, and about blue movies and reality, casually dropping profundities like "Me I went to high school/Was once a prefect/Took some great subjects English and mathematics/But ... Reggae music has changed greatly since the 1960s. Some may find Shabba a bit offensive; I admit, there are a few tracks on this CD that I wouldn't play (as a DJ) but Shabba has definitely put Jamaica dancehall music on the map. Sean Paul is continuing the process now.
The successful collaborations are all here plus all the great hits.
This CD is like the history of JA music from the late 1980s to the present.
It also contains the track "Dem Bow" which led to the Panamanians and Puerto Ricans developing their own reggaeton music.
This album will prove to you whether or not you can dance or if you are still too shy to dance. Come out of your shell, ladies and gentlemen. Buy this and dance!! It's worth every penny!

The album opens with Mr Loverman, a delightful duet between Shabba and Chevelle Franklin; this is a catchy number with lovely vocal interplay and a lilting beat. Pirates Anthem is a collaboration with Coca T and Home T; it's spacey, with plenty of vocal variation and rhythmic innovation. Wicked is a mid-tempo groove, whilst Woodtop is a more monotonous piece of ragga rapping. Gal Yuh Good is slowish but intriguing with some recognisable words in long reams of unintelligibility. Just Reality has a buoyant beat and innovative vocal techniques while Can Dun is more subdued with a really great drawn out percussive groove and echoing vocals. The light and breezy Ragamuffin with its swaying pop groove is one of my favorites. I prefer it when Shabba sings rather ... Read More:
