My first Humphrey Lyttelton 10 inch LP aquired in the mid fifties contained the tune Trouble in Mind and I still consider this the best rendition I've ever heard. I stil get goose pimples when I hear Humphs muted trumpet; he was a master and the 3 CD's just confirm the fact. Highly recommended as a memory of a great trumpeter.

There were so many songs that I had never heard before. I thought I was going to know them all so it was very disappointing. I wonder how many were actually "hits"?

... of buying three CDs of two men singing comic songs. Don't be. Flanders and Swann's "comic songs" are different from most. They have bite, wit, character, fire and - just below the surface - sometimes profound meaning. These are no "ordinary" comic songs. Neither is Swann's accompaniment at the piano ordinary. These are CDs that contain true gems. Buy them.

The post-Barrett to pre-Dark Side (1968-1972*) albums are considered to consist of a lot of aimless instrumental noodling with only the occasional song, most of which are second rate filler. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd's first album, is considered to be a great, consistent album that really does work as a cohesive ALBUM. I have to disagree. Piper is just as much a hodgepodge of filler and aimless noodling as the subsequent albums. It's just that the good stuff is REALLY good and the mediocre filler is coated in over the top praise just because they make up the majority of the myth shrouded Syd Barrett back catalogue. You could play a fully credible disco night armed with nothing more than these five cds. If a definitive chart was made of the 500 top tunes from the dance decade of 1975-1984 this set would claim an absolute minimum of 50 places. One ill informed reviewer knocks legenary weekender tunes on CD3 as fillers and bemoans the lack of Abba, Bee Gees and Dexy's Midnight Runners. It's precisely that absence which makes this such a credible set. I already owned perhaps 80 or 90 of these tracks but the purchase was well worth it for Janice Macclain's Smack Dab in the Middle and then again for the huge grin that spread across my face when I heard Wikka Wrap again for the first time in twenty years. this is the early years of the Dubliners with Luke and Ciaran who sadly died. along with John Barney and Ronnie this is a excellent triple cd. this comes with booklets with the history of this brilliant Irish band. photos of them from the 60s are really good as well. 51 songs and tunes will have you tapping your feet to this cd from start to finish. ive been playing there music since 1967 and still enjoy there music today.

Those of you who still pay for your music, take heed: this may be the greatest bargain of your life. Rage Against The Machine is that rare thing, a perfect album, and features the right mixture of heaviness, mood, and sheer fury. Evil Empire is less immediately obvious, but with a little commitment you'll be greatly rewarded. The Battle Of Los Angeles is a totally accessible romp, with Rage at their most fun, with a few tracks of sonic exploration thrown in for good measure. At this price, you can't afford not to have these metal classics in your collection (unless of course, you literally can't afford to). 33 of the best songs you'll ever hear.

This is an absolutely essential purchase for anyone that calls themselves a fan of Bob Dylan. Be really smart though, and wait till you can get it for under a tenner, like I did. Not that it's not worth full price - it is; but you can feel even more smug when you've got it for a bargain price. Enough of my smugness! What about the product? This collection of rare Dylan recordings (outtakes, live recordings and such) have been packaged on 3 CDs, and ordered more or less chronologically. CD 1 covers a period of just over 2 years from late 1961 (beginning with a brave performance from before the release of Dylan's first album in which he pretty much verbally destroys New York in front of a New York audience - "Hard Times in New York Town") through to early ... Yes the price is good, but before you buy this make sure you look at the listings first (unlike me)!!! For example, no ABBA, no Queen, no Blondie etc. etc. etc. I'm very disappointed with it. The "101 70s Hits" one looks a bit better, but from now on I'll stick to downloading individual tracks, or gettings Greatest Hits albums from the individual artists.
