This Album seems to have had a lot of negative reviews and I really can't see why. Yes, it is a bit of a change of style from some of their previous works but it really is a great album, up there with their best. There is less piano based songs on this album, of all their previous ablums it is probably most similar to their debut, Parachutes.

The opener "life in technicolour" is an instumental which, in my opinion is not a very good way to open the album. it lasts 2:30 and is not particularly good.

"Cemetries of London" is a really good song. Great Vocals and great Lyrics, it is one of the stand out tracks

"Lost!" I really like this song too, this is more similar to the material on X & Y. Very Good. ... Read More:

I love my 'freak folk', my Newsoms, my Oldhams et al. I love close multi-part harmonies, and I love Sub-Pop records. Even so, I had my misgivings about picking this album up, having heard a couple of tracks which, while they sounded ok, did not exactly have me raving. However, I found a cheap vinyl copy and duly bought it.

Next time I'll listen to my gut. What is so surprising about this album is just how remarkably dull and lifeless it is. The frothing reviewers, virtually in raptures describing the 'incredible' and 'otherworldly' harmonies, have clearly never heard a Zombies, CSNY or Beach Boys record before, because there is literally nothing here that you haven't heard before and in a more lively and characterful form on a record ... Quite simply the most beautiful, amazing album from Sigur Ros. Much catchier music, but they still haven't lost their allure. Their earlier music is somehow heavier. If this is the first album you listen too , you'll fall in love with Sigur Ros like I have.

Costello Music, when the Fratellis debuted on the mainstream in 2006 was an album that from the very first song, you fell in love with the album and the band. Their music was instantly memorable and something that you could get up and dance to without giving much thought to what you were listening to. The art of the Fratellis is that they can make music with excellent lyrics for those who pay attention to that aspect of music, and it's catchy making them the prime choice for parties. Costello Music made an impact and gave the indie bands some credibility amongst the mainstream audiences. Usually when a new band or artist has such a successful debut they generally fail to live up to that hype with their second album.

Here We Stand, was not ... Read More:

Putting a label on the debut album by MGMT is a toughie. They're sort of a synth-psychedelic-space-indie-noisepop band.

And they break an awful lot of rules in their debut album "Oracular Spectacular," a vibrant, colorful little album that sounds like a cascade of summer flowers. They have a few wrinkles yet to iron out, but their music has a unique and striking sound, and they obviously know how to craft solid pop music with a foot-tapping beat, and a slightly eerie sound.

It opens with squeaks, bubbling noises, and finally with a slow-building electric riff smothered in twisted synth. "I'm feelin' rough, I'm feelin' raw, I'm in the prime of my life/Let's make some music make some money find some models for wives... This is our ... Read More:

when i brought this album, i was eager to hear the sounds of "hot" new indie band the tings tings, as i loved the songs "that's not my name", "shut up & let me go" and "great dj". to my misfortune, those are the only tunes worth heeding- the rest are pretty bland. if you happen to preview any of the tracks (which is what i did before buying), don't be deceived by the frosty beats of "impacilla carpisung" and "fruit machine"- why you ask? well, the latter is anything but fruitful, what-with it's oblivious, unattractive verses. as for the former, well, Katie white manages to blurt a load of gibberish in the studio- it's as if tracks like this and the boring more-or-less title instrumental, "we started nothing", were just produced to fill space on an already short ... I want to like Vampire Weekend. I really do. They deserve kudos for keeping their songs short, fun and catchy, while bringing Soweto-style rhythms to the masses for the first time since Graceland. Fun little melodies bounce along as if their only purpose is to make you happy, and singer Ezra Koenig yaps his vocals like a playful puppy, eager for a biscuit. So far, so endearing. But there is something of a feeling of look-at-me smart-arsedness about it all that threatens to undo their good work at times. Recent single Oxford Comma is an example - a song that seems to bemoan grammatical fascism and an obsession with correct spelling. I mean, eh? Someone is wearing their clever trousers. Catchy tune, though.

But while there are other disappointing moments ... Read More:

I'm going to make this short and sweet as I don't want to waste too much time, but in the time between albums 2 and 3, it seems to me that Portishead have simply spent the years collecting every single annoying noise that they can find, and slapping it together in an effort to create "music".

Don't get me wrong, I've been a Portishead fan since the start, and regularly listen to self-titled, and PNYC, but THIS! I'm disappointed, sorely so.

The title : a fanfare, a declaration and a manifesto.

This collection of thirteen new recordings brings us
to some kind of pinnacle in Ms Harris's long career.

She must know this to be true. The evidence is there for us to hear.

After the dry, rasping austerity of 'Red Dirt Girl' (2000);
the warm, reassuring classicism of 'Stumble Into Grace' (2003)
and the uncomfortably eneven collaboration with Mr Knopfler,
'All The Road Running' (2006); 'All I Intended To Be' is a
trancendent epiphany. A true and perfect wonder.

Maturity of voice and musical vision; finely honed interpretive insight
and the ability to create a sense of intense gravitas from the simplest
ingredients are all marks ... Read More:
