Once again Keane has failed to come up with the goods. After a fabulous first album and a disaster with Under the Iron Sea, Perfect Symmetry slips between the two with several tracks sounding like a second rate Killers tribute band. Why didn't they stick to the distinctive sound of Hopes and Fears instead of diluting their appeal by emulating the top Indie band.

Sorry to say I had never even heard of Elbow until I caught them on TV at this years Glastonbury. Liked what I heard and bought the album (before they won the Mercury prize I hasten to add) Was completely blown away by it. Have since invested in their back catalogue which have been equally impressive. All are highly recommended It has certainly restored my interest in music .

With the critics who are ready to pounce on Oasis' weaknesses at any opportunity, it was always clear that this album would be met with greater anticipation than just about any other record of the last ten years. Whilst playing the CD for the first time, many of the tracks seem rather pedestrian. But, listen to it for a third or fourth time and the snarl and bite of "Bag It Up" and the overwhelming energy of "The Turning" will hit you like a right hook from the fist of Mike Tyson. No wonder we had to wait for over three years for the band's seventh studio album. "Bag It Up" will blow you away in the same way that "Columbia" did, and the two opening tracks would not seem out of place on the beginning of "Definitely Maybe". ... Read More:

I was a fan of scouting for girls until I got this album then I realised how annoying and similar every song is. Not good.

Obviously Love is Noise is a great track, certainly the most obvious choice for a single, their stunning live performance of it at Glastonbury was certainly a testament to its energetic, crowd pleasing potential. However, if I had to take a pick of the bunch, I would go for Appalachian Springs and Sit & Wonder as being my favourites, closely followed by Valium Skies and Judas - each one equally as detailed and soulful as the next. So that's 5 tracks that instantly grabbed my attention upon first listen!!! - and you know what? - that's FIVE more tracks than any other album I've heard this year, or for the last 5 years in fact, so for that reason alone, 5 stars is well deserved. What a great album! By far and away their best, before they succumbed to Coldplay-type anthems on Seldom Seen Kid. Every track a winner, but "Very best" is well titled. Enjoy! Anyone that can get Stockport Supporters Club into the lyrics of a ballad is alright by me!!

Elbow have written and performed some of the best music this century (IMO). Beautiful ballads & catchy tunes, Favourite Tracks: Fugitive Motel & Grace Under Pressure

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

I've been an Oasis fan since I was 11 - I'm now 24 - and agree with the previous reviewer re: people's expectations. Oasis are never going to suddenly completely change their style to try and please fickle magazine critics. They know what their fans like and they know what works for them. That's not to say Dig Out Your Soul is identical to previous albums, it does have plenty of new ideas and sounds - try listening for all the different sound effects they use in the songs. They're older, wiser and it shows in the lyrics. Liam in particular is really developing as a songwriter. I'm Outta Time is one of my favourites on the album, along with The Shock of the Lightning, the opener Bag It Up, (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady, Falling Down, Ain't Got Nothin' and To Be Where There's Life. ... I have to admit Travis has never totally sold me. The music has been very easy-listening and not particularly exciting...sort of like Take That. I bought this cd because I dj and need to have the newest material by British contemporary artists. I popped it on in the car and was surprised to hear an edgier (though not together appealing) on the opening tracks. I persevered and continued to listen and about half-way through the cd I found some songs I really liked a lot. The acoustic based "Gotta Get Up" is very catchy and instantly singable...this is my favorite track. My other favorite "Friends" has more of that signature Travis sound but the lyrics are so lovely that it sucked me in.All in all it's a very listenable cd and worth your time.
