The name Frank Sinatra is synonymous with with Jazz, Swing and Orchestral sound of music. He had an unmatched vocal talent and his music will always be viewed as legendary. It's hard to believe it's just over 10 years since we unfortunately lost this musical great. The Platinum collection compiles all of his classic greats that anyone and everyone would recognise instantly. His music wasn't made in the same way as todays standards. It wasn't released album by album, and you didn't need crazy looking music videos in order to get people to pay attention. I love Billie Holiday and have for a long time. Her voice haunts my soul every time I hear it, it reminds me of the first time I heard it in a cafe in Soho London, time seem to stand still as she sang "Strange Fruit". This box set is a perfect start to her music and you can see the all other music from jazz to hip hop flowing through it, if you have never heard her sing then I plead with you to buy this boxset and start a journey that will take you to new highs. A good start to female jazz vocals and from the queen herself.

This man speaks love and better than that,sings love like the air he breaths.This particular collection is so breathtaking especially Mona Lisa.It makes one wonder what's happened to all the realy good music these days.Nat was able to turn a simple story into something like a masterpiece and these lyrics will always remain unforgotten and live on forever......

Some rave about Ella Fitzgerald, her tonal purity and mirth, but say she could lack emotional depth (not sure I agree). Some rave about Billie Holliday, but have to cede that she had a narrow range, although she was a groundbreaking stylist. Sarah Vaughan was the third great female voice of jazz, and believe you me, she lacked nothing! This album is a wonderful budget introduction to one of the most remarkable voices of all time. Her range and her sheer musical intelligence are unsurpassable.

In a vote for the best Christmas album, it's a toss up for me between this and Phil Spector's. The voices of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are perfect for Christmas songs. They sound all warm and homely, and you can almost imagine them standing in front of a log fire singing these. Plus, the banter between Frank, Dean and Sammy is pretty entertaining and makes the songs stand out from the usual Christmas standards. If you get it, you'll bring it out every year and it will put a smile on your face!

This is the epitome of easy listening, as it evokes a time when everything was so less complicated. Some would say it tends towards the cheesy, but...bring it on.The songs remind me so much of when I was small and the radio was always on, and everyone sang along. so different from sitting glued to the TV today. This is a brilliant collection at a remarkable price.Some of the titles I was unfamiliar with, but all in all, a most welcome and enjoyable addition to my collection.

This is the soundtrack of one of the best and most memorable films I have seen this year. The CD is a wondeful reminder of the beauty of Piafs singing, Cant wait for the DVD to come out if you can see ther Film It contains all the songs from the film except the French National Anthem sung while a child which I owuld have liked on there, there are many other titles that are not by Paif but nset the scene of her life.
