This Album seems to have had a lot of negative reviews and I really can't see why. Yes, it is a bit of a change of style from some of their previous works but it really is a great album, up there with their best. There is less piano based songs on this album, of all their previous ablums it is probably most similar to their debut, Parachutes. The opener "life in technicolour" is an instumental which, in my opinion is not a very good way to open the album. it lasts 2:30 and is not particularly good. "Cemetries of London" is a really good song. Great Vocals and great Lyrics, it is one of the stand out tracks "Lost!" I really like this song too, this is more similar to the material on X & Y. After hearing the fantastic hit Mercy I took no hesitation in buying the album as soon as it was released, and I had no regrets in doing so. Every track is brilliant, Duffy's voice is beautiful and how refreshing it is to find someone genuinely talented who hasn't needed any reality TV (e.g. The X Factor or Britain's Got Talent) to prove herself. With two Top 3 singles, one of which going to #1 of course, and a superb debut album that hasn't left the Top 5 Album charts since it was released, I think we can be certain that this lovely Welsh girl is going to be a big star, and is gonna be around for a good few years yet. Well done Duffy, I'm already looking forward to the second album.

So here it is: the Next Big Thing, officially baptised by a rare 9.0 from indie bellwether Pitchforkmedia.com. But, though they're riding the Zeitgeist like Arcade Fire did three years ago, Fleet Foxes are not the finished article. "White Winter Hymnal" is a statement of intent. If someone told you it was a traditional folk song, you'd believe them. If someone told you it was by the Beach Boys, you'd believe them too. This irresistibly wistful two-minute pop song, dominated by the close harmonies that recur throughout the record, is so fresh, so clever, that you immediately want to go and give the band a hug (or a 9.0). Quite simply the most beautiful, amazing album from Sigur Ros. Much catchier music, but they still haven't lost their allure. Their earlier music is somehow heavier. If this is the first album you listen too , you'll fall in love with Sigur Ros like I have.

Decided to listen to this a number of times before reviewing as it was so unlike any other Paul Weller album I've heard before. The conclusion is that 22 Dreams is a diverse collection of songs that has something for everyone but I would be amazed if anyone could hold up their hand and say they loved every track. I do have to use the skip button in the car on a few tracks but it's fair to say that the songs that do hit the spot are classics - songs like Have You Made up Your Minds, Invisible and Sea Spray. Not just another album from Mr Weller but a brave and talented affair that challenges the musical senses.

I'd heard a lot about this album but only came by a copy earlier this year for the first time. I'd been expecting dissapointment - after all, the catalogue of great drummer's albums is a pretty slim volume - and 30 years on maybe the moment would have passed. But this one is a revelation - a rarity that delivers. Dennis had real talent as a writer withstanding comparison way up there with his more revered brother Brian. Not as a pale immitation but as a strong independent voice. The album is obviously the work of a Beach Boy but not a Beach Boys album by any means. Pacific Ocean Blue has a range and depth that is quite unexpected without the pomposity and grandeur of some 70s contemporaries. It manages to side step the sunny Califoria cliches too ... Putting a label on the debut album by MGMT is a toughie. They're sort of a synth-psychedelic-space-indie-noisepop band. And they break an awful lot of rules in their debut album "Oracular Spectacular," a vibrant, colorful little album that sounds like a cascade of summer flowers. They have a few wrinkles yet to iron out, but their music has a unique and striking sound, and they obviously know how to craft solid pop music with a foot-tapping beat, and a slightly eerie sound. It opens with squeaks, bubbling noises, and finally with a slow-building electric riff smothered in twisted synth. Having seen them at Glastonbury and being blown away by their live set, I'm now blown away at the simple brilliance of this album. It just gets better every time I hear it! Comparisons are always going to be flawed (the Grates, Blondie etc. etc.) - they don't need any. This is some of the best infectious, funky, rough-around-the-edges indie pop you'll hear this summer.
