Full marks to Chandos for mining their back catalogue for this budget set! The contents of this disc are drawn from Chandos's large catalogue of 'Grainger Edition' discs - which means a good mix of performers. though I own one or two Grainger discs, none comes close to being a true 'best of' in comparison. The usual Mock Morris, Handel in the Strand and Shepherd's Hey are here, plus some ravishing songs, such as Early on Morning and Shallow Brown - not at all the twee folk settings you may be expecting. 'Nimbus Records' is not a brand name I've encountered before, but if this recording of some of Percy Grainger's most popular works is anything to go by, it's one I shall be looking out for in the future. The CD contains some of my own personal favourites by Grainger; 'Handel in the Strand', 'Mock Morris' and 'Shepherd's Hey' and Martin Jones on Piano acquits himself very well. Highly recommended.
