absolutely brilliant, Ben Foster continues to achieve brilliant music just as Murray is on Doctor Who, while Torchwood music on the whole is completely different to Doctor Who music, and that comes with the different feel of the show and the different target audience, it still amazes me just how good the music is. On most shows i don't really notice the incidental music its just their but in Torchwood and New Series Doctor Who i actually watch the episode and think wow that was some amazing music, I really want to get that on cd. I bought this cd because Amazon offered it as a double deal for under a tenner! I loved the last song - Somewhere over the Rainbow and thought why not treat yourself to it, it costs nothing! Anyway,it is such a beautiful collection and I totally love it. Very relaxing to listen to but in no way boring, it lulls you, then teases you, then absorbs you - superb. I think it allows you to have a glass of wine and ponder or as I just did peel the potatoes and ponder!!! There's more than one gem on this cd - it is a collection of gems. Treat yourself!

Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music! Nar x

THIS IS A TERRIFIC REMINDER OF WHAT A TREMENDOUS STAGE PERFORMER STEPHANIE LAWRENCE WAS. SHE HAS FEW RIVALS FOR THE ROLE OF MRS JOHNSTONE, MANY HAVE PLAYED IT SUCCESSFULLY BUT THE DESPERATION OF HER PLIGHT AT THE END OF THE SHOW HAS NEVER BEEN MATCHED. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CAST RECORDING ALL ROUND AND DEFINITELY THE ONE TO BUY FOR AN AUTHENTIC REPRESENTATION OF ONE OF THE FINEST BRITISH MUSICALS EVER WRITTEN. BUY IT!!

I recently listened to my copy of the Braveheart soundtrack and I can say that it is easily one of my favourite film scores that James Horner has composed and I will certainly be purchasing the second album with the DVD. There are many film soundtracks that I plan to buy and even re-buy for James Horner but Braveheart is certainly one that I recommend for people who are unfamiliar with his work as his other best scores are also good but for me the Braveheart music stands out on it's own.

As soundtracks go, this has to be one of my favourites, and I would go as far to say that it is up among the ranks of Hans Zimmer and co. What makes this soundtrack so wonderful is the variety of music genres incorporated within the album. From celtic bagpipes to eastern flutes with beautiful vocals. Some soundtracks lose their emotive power when played without the support of the film/program to which they were made, however the BSG album manages to provide the same emotive and adrenalin sensations you feel when watching it. Overall the tracks are beautifully composed, each one drawing you in until the very end, and the variety of styles within the album are enough to keep you interested all the way through the album.

I bought this album after a search as basically I could not get the theme music out of my head after 40 plus years. The haunting themes remain one of the great TV programme soundtracks. They were never obtrusive but added to the atmosphere to a stupendous series. Much recommended to all 40 somethings and makes this reviewer wish for the simpler life and entertainment we had in those halcyon days of the 60's and 70's

I have always considered Miklos Rozsa's score to Ben-Hur to be the greatest film score ever composed. The sheer depth of that music, the quantity of themes Dr. Rozsa composed for that one movie (around 10 or 12 different themes) and the magnificent orchestrations he wrote made that score unique. Considering the quality of film scores that are composed today - good, usually adequate, but nothing truly 'great' - I never thought I would come across anything to match this wonder written 50 years ago. I'm so glad to say I was wrong. This score will surely go down as one of the great film scores of all time. I wont go on and on about it, as other reviewers have written fabulous reviews here that sum up my feelings. I only want to make 3 comments. Read More:

Bottom line up front, this is one of the best John Williams compilations available. It has not only memorable movie soundtrack songs, but also his music from the Olympics. While other John Williams music CDs have lots of songs, this one has some of the best variety compared to others.

Although the amazon site includes the wrong sound samples above (they are from the LaPone revival), this item is indeed the original cast recording with Lansbury and Cariou. Even better, it's been remastered and includeds 2 bonus track not featured on the original (and much more expensive) RCA double disc. What a find!
