I bought this album, because I loved the choir called "Revelation" and I wasn't disappointed. I'm at a loss to know why they haven't produced an album yet !!!, because I thought they were the true "winners" of the series. Never mind this album will suffice until I see their new album on Amazon

The multi-million selling "1492: Conquest of Paradise" is another musical masterpiece from Vangelis.

Christopher Columbus's first voyage from Spain to the Bahamas, Hispaniola and Cuba was a truly significant and momentous event in human history. The film, directed by Ridley Scott and released to mark the 500th anniversary of this journey, is greatly enhanced through this accompanying music.

Every track in this 55 minute CD is quality and there's great variety - for example, the gravitas of the maritime sounding "Conquest of Paradise", the Latin hymns of "Monastery of La Rabida", the Hispanic atmosphere in "Deliverance", the regal air that is created in "City of Isabel", the innocence of the indigenous peoples and the ... "Wonderful ! This is my first Ring. But the sound of the orchestra lead by Borenboim is terrific. I cried after see Walkiria. Mrs Evans (Brunnhilde) and Mr Tomlisson (Wotan) are simply gorgeous! I see all four opera in two days and I enjoy it very very much. The subtitle in italian are very accurated and so the other too.. not like other dvd where only few words are translated. Buy it!"

I have been a EC fan over the years, but this record is in another league. Because the record is in the classical domain, following that genre's rules - the songs display incredible musicanship, modulate key signatures rapidly and have lyrics that are more opera-like. However the result of this is that the songs are more intelligent and take greater risks in the melody than rock would ever allow. I would highly recommend purchasing this album and the score - not sold here on Amazon - but available through Musicroom.com. You will see how the songs were written and how full members of the writing the Brodskies are on this record. Their level of playing is in a different dimension than the Attractions or anyone else Costello has played with. I am not ... Read More:

Why does Christy Moore have a propensity towards singing depressing tunes? Don't get me wrong, he is a master of the depressing and mournful tune. And, yet he can be really funny at times. But, where is the joy? Admittedly its much easier to pen a dirge than to write with heartfelt joy. Perhaps Christy needs to change his vision of life - he could start by listening to Bach and Mozart but I suspect that won't be enough to change the record as it appears embedded in a groove.

A truly wonderful interpretation of the timeless classic. Every bit as stunning as seeing it live. Probably not one for the children, so if you are looking for that seek out a more traditional production.

It is witty, excellently crafted and moving. A world wide phenomenon and and instant classic. It is difficult for a DVD to truly capture the magic of a live performance, but this does an admirable job.

Essential viewing for all of the Billy Elliot's out there!

This is a review of the sound track; however I must mention of what where the music comes from. The movie would have probably not been made if Madonna were not part of it. There were many great additions to the movie that paralleled the real events surrounding the life of Evita, especially the portrayal of the Navel Cadets' uprising. The new lyrics fit in well also. I can understand some license taken when converting from stage to the big screen. I can even tolerate that Madonna usurped the "An Other Suitcase" song which deviated from the story so she could be the object of attention. However she does not have the range or stamina to sing such major songs as "Don't Cry for Me", being the major reason for purchasing this CD. I would have to say save your money.
