This is a wonderfully varied, superbly sung, reasonably ordered 3 disc compilation of Webber's life's work. The versions are beautiful, there's the `classics' : Sarah Brightman, Jason Donovan etc. But this really does span all the avenues for his creations; Emmy Rossum's version of `Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' is included from the film version of Phantom and Madonna's `You Must Love Me' from the Evita film. There are also some of the most recent stage versions; Lee Mead and Connie Fisher are both featured, from the popular Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? Although Connie sings `Make Up My Heart' from Starlight Express. I also very much enjoyed Elvis Presley being included and some other lesser known ones ... Read More:

As a hugh Ryan/Whiskeytown fan since the beginings this new full length release makes me want to shed tears of disbelief. This is surely a demo album of poor unreleased FILLER tracks ? I cannot believe that this is the same Ryan Adams that has written so many classics in the past. His writing has become mundane and formulatic and has lost it's power to make you feel happy and sad in one fell swoop. Even after several listens this is not sticking to my memory like most albums Ryan has made (bar Rock n roll). The guy wants to get out more and feel the vibe from his fans.

This is a really great selection of songs and even though most appear all too frequently on numerous compilations celebrating this period, the album would still normally rate five stars. However, I am surprised that none of the previous reviewers point out that not all the recordings are the originals as stated but inferior re-recordings that lack the nostalgia of the originals, e.g. Only Sixteeen by Craig Douglas, Wonderful Land by the Shadows and Pat Boone's Love Letters In The Sand. This really lets it down and there really can be no excuse for this from a label of the pedigree.

This new album does have a couple of outstanding tracks but the rest is just average. The outstanding tracks are 'If I were A Boy' and 'Halo' There is a track on here called 'Diva' and I am starting to wonder just why Beyonce would even think about recording a track as bad as this let alone actually recording and then releasing it. Not the best review I know but this albumn is just plain and exactly what you would expect from a Beyonce album. She doesn't push any boundaries or try anything new. Buy it in the January sales!

This is as fine an introduction to the works of Leonard Cohen as could be imagined. The track list, selected by the man himself, covers almost every period of his recorded output (Cohen is not prolific in the way, say, Bob Dylan is, or Neil Young), but I do feel some truly great stuff has been overlooked, i.e. the hushed, but haunting version of 'Story Of Isaac' from 1973's LIVE SONGS, which is one of the most profound things that anyone has ever written, the great live recordings from FIELD COMMANDER COHEN: Tour Of 1979, which admittedly was not released until after THE ESSENTIAL LEONARD COHEN appeared. Of those songs, I feel the title track is as good and epic a song as any he's recorded, and the version from NEW SKIN FOR THE OLD CEREMONY would have sufficed ... Read More:

You can argue about who's been most successful or who has the most stage presence, but when it come to sheer vocal ability Christina has her peers beat hands down. It's amazing that this voice can come out of such a tiny woman, but vocally she's more than a match for the likes of Aretha, Patti and Whitney. This Greatest Hits album not only shows off her power but also her versatility - from her pop beginnings she's moved on and tried her hand at jazz, blues, rock, RnB and everything in between. Even her teen pop is catchier and has more bite than your average commercial throwaways, but in songs like Fighter and Beautiful she shows off true soul and grit as an artist. The new stuff that's included is very electro pop, very 'now' and just as good as any of ... Read More:

Having watched Dreamgirls time and time again and it having become my favourite all-time film I was destined to buy this new offering from its star-Jennifer Hudson. I already knew that Jennifer was a fantastically talented vocalist, but I did wonder how that would translate into a music album. As it turns out I was wrong to have doubts as this is a brilliant album and in no way sounds like a debut, but instead like the work of a mature and accomplished artist. 1.Spotlight-This was clearly demarkated as the first single with its catchy hook and mid-tempo beat. All in all this was decent to listen to. I loved Avril Lavigne's cover of The Scientist (although some bits were out of tune) and plenty more good listening from this double album. good choice opening with the foos! recommended!

I have just bought this today, and having listened to it, I think it is a really good ablbum, well worth buying. If there were some more songs with a bit more oomph, such as Isobel and some of their other previous songs, I would have given this album 5 stars. However, that aside it is a great album! Go buy it!
