I remember the original hairspray from when I was younger and loved it then and still love it now, even though the songs and characters are different its still amazing! the soundtrack has all the songs from the film that just make you want to be in that groovy era of the 50's/60's. I have the album in my car and can never resist a good old sing along. Definitely a feel good soundtrack to brighten up your day! love it and love Hairspray!

I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! I appreciate that the band have been immensely successful and I would imagine that if you saw them live it would be a great performance. Not really my kind of thing on a CD though.

Firstly, maybe I should explain where I'm coming from in writing this review. I'm an avid Pendulum fan and I have been since I first heard "Spiral" all those years ago. I watched them make 2 years of great records before they finally dropped "Hold Your Colour" in our laps. Needless to say it was sensational. I love every single track on that album and it remains today one of my all-time favourites. So when I caught word of a new Pendulum LP in the making, I immediately had high hopes for another DnB stormer.

By the time I reached "The Tempest" I was almost in tears. It was, to me, like finding out a band I loved had split up. Pendulum are dead. This album is just an awful attempt, by a band I don't even know anymore, at blending 2 or 3 different ... Read More:

WERE THE DC5 AS GOOD AS THE RECENT ARTICLES I HAVE READ SUGGEST?
WERE THEY THE NEXT BEST THING TO THE BEATLES AT THE TIME?
ER NO!! AS THIS RELEASE PROVES.
LIKE MANY I REMEMBER THE MAIN HITS, BITS AND PIECES, GLAD ALL OVER AND CATCH US IF YOU CAN, AND THEY WERE GREAT POP SONGS. BUT AFTER THAT I REMEMBER VERY LITTLE AND I DID GROW UP IN THE SIXTIES. THIS RELEASE PROVES WHY. IT CONTAINS A NUMBER OF AVERAGE COVER VERSIONS AND SOME MEDIOCRE ROCK AND ROLL COVERS THAT LACK THE PASSION OF THE REAL THING. THE SOUND IS AVERAGE, THE COVER IS TERRIBLE AND THERE IS A C.D. BOOKLET THAT PAYS HOMAGE TO DAVE CLARK, I.E. DAVE DID THIS, DAVE DID THAT, BUT PAYS LITTLE ATTENTION TO THE REST OF THE BAND. VERY LITTLE BAND HISTORY, NO RELEASE DATES AND NO U.K./U.S.A. ... Read More:

I bought this CD on pre-order a while back when it first became available and this is a very good and complete "greatest hits" from Celine Dion. However, that being said there is a 2 CD version available and it is much more complete. Considering (at present) the difference between them is £3 its well worth paying just a tiny bit extra for 36 tracks instead of just 18 on this version. I returned my copy of the "standard edition" and paid the little extra for the "Ultimate Edition".

A cracking modern pop album that doesn't take itself too seriously or try to be anything it isn't - no po-faced deep and meaningful "message" here and all the better for it. Think somewhere between a Roxette that isn't trying so hard to be cool and a grown-up high-school musical without the schmaltz and you're about there. Don't think you don't like pop because you can't stand the bubblegum warbling that infests the charts - this is how it should be done.

For Emma just creeps up on you and invades your existence but in the most wondrous way. Had an awful long drive home one evening in the pitch darkness and listened to it properly. It's like having your best in friend in the car with you. When it finished I just put it back on again. Very wintry, isolated, atmospheric and lovely. Creature Fear and Lump Sum are brilliant. Lets not mess about all the songs are superb. And then of course there is "Re. Stacks" - the song of the year. Quite where Justin Vernon goes next I don't know but I do care a lot.

This album doesn't disappoint. Although I think I still prefer the series 3 album, there are some real gems on it and there isn't a single track I would skip on iTunes. In the CD jacket itself Murray Gold gives a sentence or two about each track, which is nice to read while listening to the album for the first time.
1) Doctor Who Series Four Opening Credits - the absolutely AWESOME new Dr Who theme tune, I loved it from the first time I heard it and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. 10/10
2) A Noble Girl About Town - a slightly jazzed up version of 'Donna's Theme', and fun to listen to. 8/10
3) Life Among the Distant Stars - not one of the best but pleasant to listen to, especially in the second half. 7/10
4) Corridors and Fire Escapes - generic ... Read More:
