I recently listened to my copy of the Braveheart soundtrack and I can say that it is easily one of my favourite film scores that James Horner has composed and I will certainly be purchasing the second album with the DVD. There are many film soundtracks that I plan to buy and even re-buy for James Horner but Braveheart is certainly one that I recommend for people who are unfamiliar with his work as his other best scores are also good but for me the Braveheart music stands out on it's own.

There are two versions of this album, this single disc release and a `special edition' 2CD set.

It makes a change to hear a collection of familiar music sung by a baritone rather than the more popular tenor and Bryn fans should be pleased with the selection of music, it's a good range of styles, with the emphasis on classical and opera excerpts plus a few traditional folk style songs. Bryn's voice works well on the opera favourites like Bizet's Toreador song (lots of rolling r's here) and sounds good with Andrea Bocelli on The Pearl Fishers duet `Au Fond du temple saint'. The folk songs and traditional like `Swing Low, Sweet Chariot' and `Danny Boy' are well suited to the deep baritone voice, and the `Ave Maria' duet with Sissel ... Read More:

I have never been into classical music, however the TV programs Maestro and Last Choir standing (I know trash TV... sorry) made me realise I did like some classical music. So time to test that theory, and of course this CD fitted the bill perfectly, a bit of everything and 99% you will probably know. Good album, maybe I may have discovered culture :-)

My knowledge of classical music is not so advanced, but it is a breed of music you must learn to appreciate if you get what I mean. I am to keen to expand my knowledge of classical music, so buying this album is a great starting point. Classical music is a breed of music which existed long time ago and is really old fashioned, but a real pleasure to listen to. It is very much instrumental orientated. You can hear the piano, violin or the flute with their distinctive sounds in the background.

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the World is an excellent album featuring and honouring the talents of all the major acts to embrace their names in classical music combined in four CDs. Remember The Four Seasons, Fantasia, Concerto For Two Mandolins ... Read More:

Like the film, Horner's Oscar winning score has it's moments. 'Never an Absolution' is marvellous, 'Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave' is OK (once you get past the irritating Chariots of Fire-esque effects) and that's it really. Much of the score is ruined by Horner's insistence on choosing instrumentation rooted in the story over what would work better.

Southampton for instance is spoilt by annoying synthesised choirs. The composers reason for this was apparently to give the film a contemporary feel, unfortunately it just grates, particularly when you realise how well-written the rest of the instrumentation is. The action cues are fine, but nothing mind-blowing. 'My Heart Will Go On,' performed by the ever-irritating Celine Dion, is utterly ... Read More:

This CD was given to me as a christmas present, but have only started listening to it recently. The first disc is the best with the chest burstingly beautiful "O mio babbino caro", but the second disk is heaving with relaxing hits. It really does do what it say's on the tin, the most relaxing CD on the market, the second being "Pure peace". I can only advise you to buy it now, if I am wrong you can resell it on amazon for almost it's purchase price and I am sure there will be many takers.

I wish I had paid more heed to the only 1 star rating by 'a customer'. I too was very disappointed by this CD. I had expected full on concert style piano playing, instead of which I got 'one finger' style playing, very popular with the masses, but not very deep. If you like Clayderman, this may well please you.

Amazing, the music really takes you back to the film and it is incredibly upseting, the haunting bagpipes and flutes. It even has speeches included from the film, ah you listen to the sensual, deep sexy voice of Mel Gibson, ah heaven! Oh yeah and the famous freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom part is on as well and if you turn that up really high on your cd player it shakes the whole house! I honestly cannot listen to it with out breaking down in tears as it really brings the film back to you! The composer is James Horner who, may i add composed Titanic and Willow so you know it's got to be good! It also includes tradditional Scottish Bagpipe music! So get your skates on and start ordering now or YOU will be the one who is missing out on such a atmospheric, breathtaking cd!

The original soundtrack was so disappointing as it missed out so much of the music that made the film so great. This album makes up for it: or was it a ploy to sell more cds and make more money?
Whatever, its great music.

"Appropriate" is the word best suited to James Horner's composition for this big hit movie. The music caught my attention mid-way through the movie as events started to go dreadfully wrong for the troubled mathematical genius. Up until this point it was typical enough of the gendre. This change in tone is the "secret weapon" within, conveying the slow disintegration of the protagonist's mind. What follows from tracks 6 to 10 is, for all intents and purposes, the same tune rearranged in many different ways. It is extremely menacing, allowing us to feel the pain of one man's inability to grasp reality. Eventually the mood changes to one of redemption and defiance as this man overcomes many of his inner demons. Despite the desperate tones this CD makes great background ... Read More:
