For a band that has been around in one guise or another for over 25 years to produce a 14th studio album of this quality is nothing short of astounding. This is an album you can inhabit. Buy it and move in and you will find it a space of beauty, troubling images, humour, poetry and simply amazing songs. Tunes which are catchy at the first listen bring you back for more. Then, the wonder sets in. Each song is not simply lovingly crafted but a shining jewel of perfection and each one different, offering something new. I ordered this set after seeing it advertised in an email from Amazon. I was not very familiar with Johnny Cash, with the exception of Boy named Sue and Ring of Fire. This double CD really has blown me away. Cash's voice is great but the entertainment comes as much from his banter with the prisoners as from the songs, many of which have jail themes. All in all a great showcase for a natural performer. The sound quality is also excellent demonstrating better stereo effects than many modern albums.

These days, Ry Cooder is a musical novelist and I happen to believe that his format of album making is quietly revolutionary. Here is another great example of what a concept album should be like. Mysterious, Iconic, Intruiging and totally musical. In an age where you select a few tracks of an album for a download, it's quite incredible that we have an artist who makes you realise what a lazy musical culture we live in. It's time to wake up People !!! Music is still alive ...

I'd never heard of Johnny Cash until this cd appeared in the cd player at work. Needless to say, it came home with me about a week later, and has been in my car ever since. There's something about johnny Cash that is totally mesmerising, & i'm even more hooked since watching walk the line, which is one of my favourite films. This deserves a place in every CD collection.

This is a superb album which Green Day have released under a name that was secret but not anymore. Not only that you could tell it was them anyways, as there are some songs that are Green Day like and the fact of Billies voice gives it away. But the songs are so different from what artists are releasing today and thats a good thing. It does sound like a little bit like rock music from the 60's but again that is a good thing. Each song is great to listen to and they are brilliantly done. Top marks for this album. I know there will be people who will not like it or be keen on it but if you have never listened to Green Day or even if you have, you got to have a listen to this.

Even his harshest critic would find Magic a difficult album to find fault with. Bruce is spot on here with nearly every song. His album contains some of the most direct messages yet about the Bush administration and forms a large part of the theme making it a poignant reminder of the troubled times we live in. I've just seen Bruce in concert in the last few weeks and can tell you this ROCKS when performed live, so make sure you crank it up loud! BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With its plain white sleeve and pared-down arrangements, the White Album was released as something of an antidote to its predecessor Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Although it lacks Pepper's cohesion, it has an incredible, unbelievable diversity and is brilliant in places. Recorded at a time when tensions between The Beatles were at their height, the White Album is also one of the first double albums of new material ever released by a pop or rock band. As with most double discs, there are some critics who say that The Beatles should have cut out the fillers and released a single LP. Very simple review this..absolutely fantastic set from a legend,one of the best singer-songwriters in the history of popular music,jazz and blues.Beautifully produced,great band throughout and Van on absolutely top form....5 stars and then some,among albums of the year surely.

This latest TV advertised set has 20 tracks from the America's first soul group. All the original 50's well known songs are included, except for "You'll Never, Never Know (I Care)". Have they included "You'll Never Know", which is a different tune entirely, by mistake ? However, it's the oddities that make this compilation so intriguing. If you buy the album for Tony Williams smooth lead vocals, you will not be disappointed by the hits and versions of standards like "September In The Rain" and you might even be pleasantly surprised by rare tracks like "I Don't Know Why", presumably with Zola Taylor on lead. Is it a different male lead on "Temptation" and "You've Changed" ? Nevertheless, they are fine cuts. I would have preferred if the version of "Crying In The Chapel" had been omitted and the inclusion ... Read More:
