This Album seems to have had a lot of negative reviews and I really can't see why. Yes, it is a bit of a change of style from some of their previous works but it really is a great album, up there with their best. There is less piano based songs on this album, of all their previous ablums it is probably most similar to their debut, Parachutes. The opener "life in technicolour" is an instumental which, in my opinion is not a very good way to open the album. it lasts 2:30 and is not particularly good. "Cemetries of London" is a really good song. Great Vocals and great Lyrics, it is one of the stand out tracks "Lost!" I really like this song too, this is more similar to the material on X & Y. Duffy is probably the best R&B singer to come from these shores in a long long time. This album is phenomenal. Every track seems to accentuates her vocal range. The musicians supporting her are also very worthy of recognition. I particularly like the unique drum tuning on Mercy and the 60's keyboard playing. The tracks themselves vary but are all interesting: but I doubt that anyone could render them as well as she does. This album is one of the best that I have heard for a long time. A definite buy recommendation.

I'm going to ruin the end of this cd for everybody without a care in the world... The last track is called ''Home Before dark''. There I did it. Oh no he didn't, oh yes he did.

I have to say I never thought Dennis could do a record like this one... yes I know I'm an idiot. But seriously, I am overblown by the feeling of these songs (Farewell my Friend, Time, End of Show), every song has the right element of surrounding sounds but never disturbing the greatness of the melodies and the amazing piano tracks. Unbelievably he included funky songs (pacific ocean blue) in this album and they all fit together like a miracle or whatever you want to call it. He blends the classic beach boys sound on a subtle way, with the Beatles creating an atmosphere making it very personal to listen to. This is not his best, but it's not as bad as some make out.There are a couple of tracks, God being the main one , that I just don't get.However in 21 tracks there will be a couple of mis hits.I saw the tour for this album and to be frank, it sounded much better live.Enjoyable, but far from his best

In my earlier review of the first Raconteurs album, I said that I couldn't pick an outstanding track because they were all equally good. That effort was a solid and concise album - 10 short songs, plenty of ideas, and essentially it was veering towards pop rock. It sounded very different to The Raconteurs that I first heard at Leeds Festival in 2006. That band was awesome - big sound, tight performance, audacious musicianship... and I realise now that they must have been playing a lot of songs from this album, though it was clearly far from being released. Consolers of the Lonely keeps a lot of the pop sensibilities that the earlier effort possessed (vocal harmonies, singalong choruses), but it is very much more rooted in traditional American rock n' roll... ... A few good tracks but then a few absent tracks including 'Beautiful Noise'. Could have been worse but could have been a lot better too.

There is no doubting that this girl has a very unique and likeable voice. But the material on this album does not do this justice, with much of it being quite dull, drab and samey. Hopefully with the next album, she'll get a chance to really shine.

I've liked Madonna on and off since she started in the 80's with 'Holiday'. I bought most of her early stuff when it was still sold on vinyl but for some strange reason stopped buying her music when it went on to CD format. Since then, some of her music grabbed me, some didn't, but I've always admired her ability to transform herself with the times. I think Madonna has the Marmite factor - you either love her or you hate her! Anyway,I happened to be listening to the radio on the way to work one morning and heard '4 minutes' being played. I recognised Timberlake's voice and assumed it was his new song, no problem, I like his music and was really getting into this song when I recognised Madge's voice. There is a jungle of female singer/songwriters out there, but only a few with a talent as Sara Bareilles. With "Little Voice" Sara Bareilles demonstrates that she is much more than one in a crowd of indistingishable artists. She is a poignant lyricist, versatile musician,and confident singer. I especially like the way she works with rhythms in her songs. Some songs have drums and percussion, but the piano is the key in the rhythm. On some songs it is easy to identify her musical inspirations, but Sara Bareilles manages to let herself be inspired and take flight on her own. Sara Bareilles deserves a standing applause for the modestly titled "Little Voice". Louise
