This Album seems to have had a lot of negative reviews and I really can't see why. Yes, it is a bit of a change of style from some of their previous works but it really is a great album, up there with their best. There is less piano based songs on this album, of all their previous ablums it is probably most similar to their debut, Parachutes. The opener "life in technicolour" is an instumental which, in my opinion is not a very good way to open the album. it lasts 2:30 and is not particularly good. "Cemetries of London" is a really good song. Great Vocals and great Lyrics, it is one of the stand out tracks "Lost!" I really like this song too, this is more similar to the material on X & Y. A truly great hidden gem. Packed full of feeling and funk. Being an ardent BB fan I bought the original vinyl as an early 20-something and was blown away all those years ago. It seems I've been waiting forever (no pun intended) for it to be re-released and finally it has arrived all 'cleaned up' complete with his second unreleased album 'Bambu' and bonus tracks too. I am in heaven! Seriously, as our American cousins would all too often remark this IS a genuinely 'seminal'/'awesome' work beautifully re-packaged and presented that even a cynical 'oldie but moldy' like me reared on gatefolds and free posters et al was suitably impressed, and all at a bargain price. In my earlier review of the first Raconteurs album, I said that I couldn't pick an outstanding track because they were all equally good. That effort was a solid and concise album - 10 short songs, plenty of ideas, and essentially it was veering towards pop rock. It sounded very different to The Raconteurs that I first heard at Leeds Festival in 2006. That band was awesome - big sound, tight performance, audacious musicianship... and I realise now that they must have been playing a lot of songs from this album, though it was clearly far from being released. Consolers of the Lonely keeps a lot of the pop sensibilities that the earlier effort possessed (vocal harmonies, singalong choruses), but it is very much more rooted in traditional American ... A few good tracks but then a few absent tracks including 'Beautiful Noise'. Could have been worse but could have been a lot better too.

There is no doubting that this girl has a very unique and likeable voice. But the material on this album does not do this justice, with much of it being quite dull, drab and samey. Hopefully with the next album, she'll get a chance to really shine.

There is a jungle of female singer/songwriters out there, but only a few with a talent as Sara Bareilles. With "Little Voice" Sara Bareilles demonstrates that she is much more than one in a crowd of indistingishable artists. She is a poignant lyricist, versatile musician,and confident singer. I especially like the way she works with rhythms in her songs. Some songs have drums and percussion, but the piano is the key in the rhythm. On some songs it is easy to identify her musical inspirations, but Sara Bareilles manages to let herself be inspired and take flight on her own. Sara Bareilles deserves a standing applause for the modestly titled "Little Voice". Louise

Yep, Enjoyed her first offering, which was/is more refreshing. Like a few hear I agree, she's grown-up, not good. And she got married, whats she like! I've only played it twice, 3 might be pushing it, sorry. Hey, When she gets divorced we might get a good 3rd album, with swearing and stuff!! fingers crossed!

Many of these songs have an excellent use of rhythm, beat and bass to create very catchy pop rock, yet retaining the simplicity of singer/songwriter style folk music. My roots are in 70s/80 rock music and yet I really love this.
