This DVD version of the famous Red Rocks concert has been a long time coming and it does not disappoint. It is great to have the whole concert restored and the missing tracks are so good one wonders why they were ever omitted fom the original VHS version. The most impressive aspect of this release is the improved sound. The bass in particular is awesome, and I can hear phases from Adam Clayton that I have never been able to hear before. Edge's guitar is equally impressive and the whole sound picture is perfetly balanced.

A previous reviewer mentions how this is the last time we see U2 in their original early form before the introduction of sequencers. The Unforgettable Fire album saw the band delve into ambiant, keyboard supported ... Read More:

I've been waiting for this for so long - happy memories of 1973 onwards with this as the soundtrack. There are some of the original comments missing but most of them are there (including the pliers/strong hand one which one reviewer mentioned was missing). It's a fantastic live gig, far beter than the one from Hammersmith and if you haven't heard it already then get it now! It's great to hear Mick Ronson's spectacularly raw guitar playing which is a perfect complement to David's haunting vocals.Love it, love it, love it and it hasn't been off either my car CD player, Ipod or sound system since I bought it.

I find it very hard to criticise Steve Winwood. He is a quality musician with a quality voice. He started out a teenage prodigy who took the charts by storm, then spent much of the 70's doing pretentious but quality material typical of the era with various line ups. In the 80's he went commercial and had massive success, particularly in the States. Then he tried to carry this theme into the 90's and somehow it didn't work any more. His last album 'About Time' was largely based on latin rhythms with an intimate sounding combo and was a classy piece of work. This new effort seems to fall somewhere in between that album and his 70's work. Whilst it lacks a certain focus and dynamism, it is still a quality piece of work. For me, the bluesy minimalistic opener 'I'm ... Read More:

I am a long time Jackson Browne fan and have seen him live several times both with the band and solo. The previous solo album was an excellent effort and well worth five stars. Regrettably, this is not up to the standard of Vol.1 by any means.

I don't know why, perhaps some of the tracks were just not suited to a solo performance, perhaps these weren't the best performances but this album just doesn't gel. In particular, Somebody's Baby just didn't hit the spot at all and nor even did the usually excellent All Good Things. I was particularly disappointed by the rendition of "In the shape of a heart" which was just not as good as I remember it from the acoustic tour a couple of years ago.

On balance, I would have to say that this album is strictly ... Read More:

It really doesn't matter to me whether this album is only 1% live; the fact is that Visconti finally managed to capture the energy of Thin Lizzy on tape. This is by far the best Lizzy album, and knocks every studio effort into a cocked hat. Much as I like albums like "Johnny The Fox", if you play this one afterwards, you will know what I mean - there are no better versions of these songs anywhere else. Yes, the original vinyl double LP was lovingly packaged with great photos and a "side" dedicated to each member of the band, and the main shame is that nobody has seen fit to remaster Live And Dangerous and give it the packaging it truly deserves (in the same way that Skynyrd's "One From The Road" has). That said, I don't have any real problems with the sound - this is a ... Read More:

6.The Black Parade Is Dead: Live in Mexico City (DVD/CD) by: My Chemical Romance

Unfortunately this is a groaning disappointment. Fairly poor execution instrumentally and Gerard can barely keep his breath let alone emulate the recorded versions of the songs. Formulaic set lists and uninspired arrangements contribute to what is frankly, an average affair.

An overly produced record often results in a disappointing live show, not always, but this time is just does.

I'm a MCR fan, no doubt, but I have to be honest, this is mediocre at best. Why? I turned it off after three songs and thought 'I can come back to this later'.

I've been a Cohen fan as far back as I can remember. I had a feeling I wouldn't be disappointed by this album, since Cohen's live backup singers are legendary, and I was right. These are without a doubt the most beautiful and emotional versions of the songs ever recorded, and I find it impossible to listen to the album as mere background music; as soon as the music starts playing, I can't help but close my eyes and just let the music envelop me completely.

The songs "Bird on a Wire" and "Sisters of Mercy" are worthy of special mention. The tempo is lower, the saxophone sexier and the vocals deeper and more intense than ever before, and the result defies description. I would have gladly paid in blood to be at the show where they were recorded.

I heartily recommend ... Read More:

Great ! Superb ! Fantastic ! I agree that picture could have been better, but music overcomes it all ! Something not seen. We in Croatia would say "prava festa" (true fiesta) for all of people in the venue: the musitians and the audience, and therefore all the people who watch it on DVD.... Really must have DVD.

I have been a guitarist for 47 years, I have never understood why Clapton is so highly rated, believe me his limitations are laughable. If you want blue-based Rock n Roll, Ry Cooder produces better albums, at least they have heart and guts.
Clapton unplugged is so lame, and the sidesmen so timid, trying never to show up the boss, the album is rehearsed to death. I remember B.B. King on one of his visits saying he was off to see a real guitarist at Ronnie Scott - Barney Kessel. I think when Joe Public decides that some-one is God that person ends up believing it, and if they harbour any doubt then they can always to resort to drugs and liquor.

This is an album which captures a performer at the absolute zenith of his achievement. Morrsion is in complete control of a large and highly competent band and milks his power to the nth degree, changing pace at will and spontaneously with a flick of his hand behind his back as he growls his invocation to soul in a way he has never bettered.
There are great cover versions given the celtic soul treatment, such as "Bring It All On Home" and "I Just Wanna Make Love To You". Alongside sit magnificent, innovatory treatments of Morrison classics such as "Into The Mystic", "St. Dominic's Preview" and a simply stunning version of "Caravan", embellished by sumptuous saxophone from Jack Schroer and vibrant, beautiful violin from Nathan Ribble. Then, at the end, Van shouts "Turn It Up !!!" at the ... Read More:
