Having just heard the CD, I am warmed by the quality of ALL the tracks, the singing is beautiful and sung so professionally. If you are looking for a traditional Carol CD, then I would definately recommend this one,

After years of listening to the usual American performers/crooners on every Christmas c.d. I could lay my hands on, it's been a great pleasure to hear the traditional English style of singing used to such heart warming effect. Playing this c.d. on Christmas day is going to make myself and my family feel right at home.

A little gem of a cd; there are quite a few songs that I had never heard before which makes it a change from the normal Christmas carol compilations - though for all I know they may be Celtic (or Irish) standards. The instrumentation, as one might expect from the title, includes harps, pipes whistles and guitars as well as strings and is very nicely done; as someone else has remarked the effect is otherworldly in parts, and in others I find it attractively 'ancient'. I would thoroughly recommend this cd as something to listen to in it's own right or as background music whilst putting the tree up, which I suspect is what most people would want it for. An absolute snip at the price too !!

If you enjoy Reggie then you would feel that this album would offer you the excellence in Christmas music. It started with dreary renditions of several much loved carols. The casio keyboard music effect did nothing to enhance it. Further along the album at Track 16 there starts to be a big improvement and I would say to buy it for this part alone!

This is the sixth in the series of special Christmas albums dedicated to raising money for the Special Olympics, but this one is very different from previous albums that generally featured pop and rock music. This album, as its title suggests, features acoustic country and bluegrass music. As far as I know, all the recordings are new although some of the artists have recorded their chosen songs previously. Many of the songs here will be familiar to you but the simple acoustic settings featured here allow the singers to bring out the true meaning of each song The set opens with Reba singing a great version of Silent night. Fabulous sound, wonderful mix of tracks, music that really sounds like the family singing round the Yule Log. Maddy Prior's voice has never been more sound or reliable. Especially excellent is the first track - but all the tracks are just so singable!! This is mulled wine and open fire music to really set the scene for the festivities, and no collection should be without it.
