This CD is a delight capturing the sparkle and fun of Xmas. It is light classical music at its very best. I play Troika and I know the festive season has begun.

the best Xmas cd on the market at present - but not as good as the red cover Best Christmas Album in the World Ever which came out in 1995ish. To be fair this one has virtually everything but misses several key tracks - Shakin Steven's Merry Christmas Everyone, The Pretenders 2000 Mile and the Wham version of Last Christmas. It would be in bad taste for me to complain that theres no Rock and Roll Christmas by Gary Glitter but there you go. Other than these exceptions it has everything.

Absolutely awful, this is a shoddy complilation of Xmas songs. The sound quality is terrible and the album seems to be a montage of old radio broadcasts. At times it seems that Sinatra is singing with a bucket on his head. If you want real nostalga then this album may appeal but I would advise you to stay well clear.

Possibly the best album of all time. Kermit has an especially fantastic voice, a cross between an early Cat Stevens and David Gray in his latest album, Life in Slow Motion. However, I think his rendition of One More Night till Christmas perhaps eclipses both these two great artists. I had heard rumours of a contract with Sony BMG and a solo career, but have no idea why it hasn't materialised. The song Love Is Gone is also an absolute classic, and brings tears to my eyes, especially the second version Track 18, which is perhaps the stand-out song of the entire album (which is saying a lot). Michael Caine also impressed me, and although not perhaps with quite the same talent as Kermit, or even Tiny Tim (whom reminds me of a young Aled Jones, and I ... Read More:

I bought this a couple of years ago and return to it regularly - a sure sign of a good recording. I like the music of Vaughan Williams and this is a good example of his music. The Fantasia was a big surprise - its a lovely setting of some well known carols. John Barrow has a superb baritone voice. The Hodie takes a little more getting into but it is worth the effort. Both choirs and orchestra have good sounds. At this price you can't go wrong!

Firstly i need to hold my hands up and say that the Flaming Lips are just about my favorite band, so i think this review will be a little over generous to their latest project. Essentially Wayne Coyne's pet project for the last decade, Christmas On Mars finally gets its release, and i for one am relieved because it will hopefully mean the band will shift focus and release a new album, and then tour it, which lets face it is all that fans like myself really want from the band. The score for the film The Nightmare before Christmas is brilliant in its own strange way. Both the music and the lyrics are written by Danny Elfman, and he also sings the main character of jack Skellington. The songs are delightful and variated, and you discover something new in the arrangement, every time you listen to them. Besides, the instrumental tracks are beautiful and melancholy, a nice contrast to the humourous and often lively songs. If you like the film or are just a little bit interested in music, you should definetly buy this CD. It has so many great tunes, and the orchestration is just perfect. All in all, a soundtrack quite out of the ordinary.

The Snowman absolutely makes Christmas for me. The bittersweet story always reminds me that nothing is forever; we should cherish the time we have. Looking in the Children's Xmas songs category, I noticed that this CD was the top result. I'm so happy to see that so many others appreciate this work as much as I do.
