I've been a fan of MC Solaar's for quite some time now, and have had this album a good 10 years, but I came back to it recently and felt I had to review it. The skills shown on this album make you wonder where everything changed for Claude MC, his fast pace, humour, intellect and just all good sound made him a target for hardcore rappers, as they felt his sound was too soft. Well maybe they should have slipped on "Quartier Nord" and checked his skills there?

There's nothing on here that's bad, OK, I'm not keen on Ragga Jam with Raggasonic - but it's still worth a listen. Caroline ("I am the ace of clubs that stings your heart") has that beauty and some lovely play on words like "maso elle est partie avec un vieux macho qu'elle ... Read More:

3.Mach 6 by: MC Solaar

Music : Mach 6
Not so full on with insistent driving beats as one might come to expect of more typical hip hop and some tracks are not really danceable to be honest (not that that is necessarily a pre-requisite of the genre). Strikes me as thinking person's hip hop (even if I don't understand more than a couple of the words!). Often quiet, generally restrained and very acoustic in places. Extremely well crafted and artful

4.Paradisiaque by: MC Solaar

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : Paradisiaque
As with his earlier releases, 'Qui Seme Le Vent Recolte Le Tempo' and 'Prose Combat', and his later self-titled CD, on 'Paradisiaque' MC Solaar combines hip-hop and jazz grooves to create stylish, chic and ultra-smooth tracks par excellence. 'Gangster Moderne' and 'Le Temps Changent' are the highlights of what is an all-round solid album. Solaar would doubtlessly be a household name in the UK and America if he rapped in English, but as it is he is a relatively well-kept secret outside the Francophone world. Buy this - and his other albums - and be impressed!

Its always the same - an album gets hyped to a stage that no artist can realistically match. Yeah, there may be comparisons with Shadow and RJD2 but those boys provided quality product over numerous tracks. At a little over half-an-hour long, with numerous vocal samples, you can't help but feel a little ripped-off when buying this 'album'. Its great in parts but a few more tracks, offering a truer showcase of Kid's skills, would've been a better reflection of this artist's abilities.

this is a great album. some don't like it but just know that there are two versions of this album. one of the versions has more tracks. why they took off some of the best tracks is a mystry to me but look out for it.

When I saw this album in the stores I purchased it straight away. Uponhearing it for the first time I was very dissapointed. My dissapointmentstemed from the fact that it was not a studio album but an album made upfrom tracks that he had performed at a concert. But after listening a fewmore times the album began to grow on me. There are some classics on itsuch as CAROLINE and QUAND LE SOLEIL DEVIENT FROID but the stand out trackon the album is the climatic and energetic LES TEMPS CHANGENT. All in allthis is quite a decent album and I recommend it to all mc solaar fans

Probably one of the best hip-hop albums of all time, up there with Step in the Arena as an exponent of funky, lyrical jazz-tinged hip-hop. Jimmy Jay's lush, sun-drenched soundtrack is an amalgam of warm horns, jazz guitar, funk bass and some serious bottom-wiggling, foot-tapping breakbeats. MC Solaar never equalled the lyrical density and flows like there's no tomorrow. He goes from the bitter-sweet Séquelles via the optimistic, streetwise strut of A La Clair Fontaine and the ghetto realism of Nouveau Western (co-credited to Serge Gainsbourg, with the main sample being lifted from the latter's Bonnie and Clyde) to the sheer lyrical joy of the freestyling LNMIACCd'HTCK72KPDP. An absolute must!

WOW, this album is a must have. It is so laid back but yet loud, and since its on the Mo Wax lable you just know its good. I like this because it is something i can listen to anytime of the day or night, with big beats and mellow sound. Real nice, this is the music you want to listen to on the train from your way into work and back from Dublin City (you would understand if your from dublin).

A real Must have. buy it
