Music : No Reason to Cry
I consider this album very under-rated. If it is atypical of Clapton, then all the better for it. The highlight of the album for me is "sign language", the Dylan collaboration but the laid back "black summer rain" is a superb track, laid back Clapton at his best. "Hello old friend" was a successful single and again, it's a fine track.

Double trouble doesn't really pull it off for me. Some may like it and it's not a bad track, just done better by others.

Carnival is a bit of fun but not a bad track nonetheless. The other tracks are ok and generally the whole album is worth a listen.

It seems that the best tracks on this are the Clapton originals and the Clapton / Dylan collaboration. It's a shame that EC ... Read More:

Throughout the course of his 30 year career, Rory Gallagher released 15 albums, yet it is his live albums that are held in highest regard in the hearts and minds of his many fans. The accounts of those who saw him play live paint a picture of a quiet, self-effacing man who just loved to play, and play and play, battering his ageing, war-torn stratocaster for two or more hours on a nightly basis. For the first time, all 3 albums "Stagestruck" "Irish Tour 74" "Live in Europe" are brought together, with a bonus CD bootleg "Meeting with the G-Man". Over the four discs, Rory displays his virtuosity in the fields of blues and rock, whether it is straight-up chicago blues "I Wonder Who" (Muddy would indeed smile down approvingly) raw Mississippi delta ... This is exactly what it says. However, because of the way the tracks are edited together here, the discs do not flow like the original albums; there is studio chat etc where not expected! If you want to hear the albums as they were originally released then this set will not provide that - but it does offer the full Blue Horizon output in one convenient package - and what a mighty fine collection of work it is!!

This album I only discovered retrospectively. And I can imagine it was a disappointment after 1978's 'Backless' but it is still well worth a listen. The opener 'Something Special' is efforlessly infectious. A good start. 'Black Rose' is rather incongrouous and 'Another Ticket' is a ballad which is rather too anonymous to be memorable. It is second drawer basically. One can imagine Elton John making a slightly better job of it. Slighly. 'I Can't Stand It' rolls along nicely...but is pretty forgettable. 'Hold Me Lord' is a catchy opener to Side 2 (vinyl) and is rather enjoyable. Nice guitar. 'Floating Bridge' is OK but interminably slow. Not great. Which brings us to best cut on the album 'Catch Me If You Can' which is just great. ... Read More:

Johnny's powerful vocals and great guitar playing make this album a great addition to my johnny winter collection.

Each track on the album is different. Johnny really explored every aspect of the blues with this album from delta to chicago blues and beyond. The album is anything but boring.

johnny's guitar tone is raucous and powerful...as usual.

My favorite tracks are Mojo boogie, Third degree and See see baby.

If you buy this album you won't be disappointed

Even though this page only lists five tracks, "The Original Lost Electra Sessions" is not an EP, it's a 19-track CD.

All but one of these 19 tracks were recorded in December, 1964, as Paul Butterfield's projected first LP, but the results were (inexplicably) scrapped and replaced by the band's official self-titled debut, cut a few months later.

With both Sam Lay, Elvin Bishop and Mike Bloomfield already onboard, these sessions are very similar in feel to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band's first album. It's perhaps a little bit rawer in production and performance, but not really worse or different than what ended up on the actual debut LP.

Dedicated primarily to electric Chicago blues standards, it opens with a somewhat ... Read More:
